My eyes snapped open as I regained consciousness, my mind racing with questions about what happened. However I quickly came to a conclusion when I turned on the bed and shifted my gaze to a detailed ceiling that wasn't my own.
What?
Pain shot through my upper thigh and I winced uncomfortably as I sat up abruptly, becoming startled at the sight that I wasn't in my room; but rather a very intricate one with not much in it.
Where even was I?!
I looked around the room.
There was a desk and a mirror pushed up to the right corner and the large bed I was in was draped in exquisite covers. Two armchairs were in the left side of the room, and windows that were open had strong wind coming through.
Then panic washed over me and my breath quickened as I tried to remember what happened or how I even got here, however the sound of a door opening caused me to immediately turn my attention to where it was coming from.
"...Yea, I hope she's okay," A gentle female voice approached as the door opened wider, revealing a girl—who didn't look much older than me—who was accompanied by a short, elderly woman.
The girl had a defined face; her nose was small and her short, red hair framed her face. Her green eyes glinted with warmth as she gave me a dimpled smile.
"Oh! Thank goodness you're okay," she chimed, coming over to the side of the bed in a hurry. Her face held a relieved look as she motioned the elderly woman to come over. "Your injuries aren't that severe, however I brought one of the palace's healers with me to help ease your wounds."
I was confused.
What wounds? Healer? And who even were these people?
As the girl examined me further, my eyes widened as I saw pair of large, feathery wings cascading down her back.
"...Who are you?" I started, staring at both of them in utter shock. This had to be some sort of joke. "Is this some kind of reality TV show? Because I did not sign up for it."
"What?" The girl asked me, her head tilting in a confused manner. "Whatever that is, no. You fell pretty hard from high ground by the gardens, and I saw you so I brought you back to the palace; you blacked out when you fell."
As I tried to rationalize what the girl was even talking about, the elderly woman next to her took out a small glass bottle filled with a transparent blue liquid and turned my leg a bit.
