"I seriously don't get how you like chocolate ice cream more than strawberry," Rachel chuckled as she ate a spoon full of her strawberry ice cream.
"I told you, I'm not really a fan of fruity flavors," I laughed, wrapping my fluffy coat around me because of the chilly weather. But the clothes on Earth couldn't even compare to the intricate and unique outfits that people in Ririan wore.
Rachel and I were sitting outside a small bakery we always went to, eating ice cream as usual. There were only a few more days before we had to go back to school, so we made the most of it.
As I put my hair up in a ponytail, Rachel gasped a bit.
"Woah," she pointed to the Lirin on my wrist. The swirls of ruby on the smooth leather glimmered. "That's such a pretty bracelet! Where did you get it?"
I stopped and tried coming up with a short lie.
Even though Rachel was my best friend and I trusted her with everything, I decided not to tell her just yet. I still had to get used to Ririan myself.
Besides, telling her I was apparently a Linker to a whole other dimension right out of the blue would probably make her think I lost my mind.
"I got it at a thrift store," I excused and continued eating my ice cream as Rachel smiled.
I took a glance at the Lirin again, knowing that it's Magic didn't work on Earth.
"Well, let's get going. My mom is always nagging me about the SATs so I have to study. I'll drop you off at your house," Rachel stood up and we walked to her car and drove off.
Rachel dropped me off at my house, the narrow, two-story house lit up by the streetlight.
"I'm home!" I called, placing my bag that I carried by the stairs as I saw my mom making my favorite soup.
"Here, have some," she smiled and we started eating dinner.
After dinner, I crept up to my room, throwing myself down on my bed and petting Cora as she trampled over to me to lay beside me.
It's been a day since I first went to Ririan, and with the apparent time difference between the two worlds, it probably had been even longer for Leion since I've last been.
Gazing at the ring, I figured that I could spend lots of time in Ririan if I transported during the night, where my mom was asleep so she wouldn't notice a thing.
After some time passed where I knew my mom was asleep, I sat up in my bed and grazed my finger over the elegant gemstone on the ring, the sparkling, blue glow emitting.
