"He just.... left?" Neveah whimpers as Jessica holds her.
Jasper had sent a text to Neveah, breaking up with her. No explanation, no reasoning. Nev can't help but blame herself. She doesn't know what she did wrong.
"What did I do wrong?"
"Nothing," Jess coos as she holds her friend. "You did nothing wrong, Neveah. Who knows, maybe Jasper will come back and will want you back after realizing what a big idiot he is for leaving."
Jess and Neveah are in her bedroom. It's been three days since Bella's birthday party and the Cullens are officially gone. Bella had even been lost in the woods; Sam Uley of La Push helped find her.
Neveah isn't broken because the Cullens left; she understands why. But it's the very vague breakup text that Jasper had sent. He couldn't even break up with her in person. Neveah would have felt better if he'd have done it that way.
"I'm gonna help Penelope make some brownies," Jessica whispers. "I'll be right back."
Neveah curls up in a ball and she cries again.
