Once I got in, I closed the door and laid on my bed, still smiling.

“You look happy.” My brother told me.

“I am.”

“Getting laid tends to do that for people.”

“Can you not talk about me getting laid? It's weird.”

“Why? You will call Riley and tell her everything and I will overhear everything.”

“Not when I kick you out.”

“Sure, like you could.”

“Just shut up.”

“You love me.”

“You should still shut up.”

“Lucky for you, I have stuff to do.”

“Good. Get out. I need sleep.”

“Fine. I'll see you later.”

I ended up sleeping for hours. I slept until Connor came home.

“Hey. I got dinner.” He handed me a bag of food.

“Thank you.” My voice cracked.

“Have you been sleeping this whole time?”

“I didn't get much sleep last night.”

“Gross.”

“Shut up.”

“Did you gush to your friend yet?”

“Not yet. Where were you?”

“Working. This new gig isn't too bad.”

“That's good.”

“You should call Riley, she was blowing up my phone.”

“I didn't even know you guys had each other's numbers.”

“Well, now you know. Call her.”

I reached for my phone on the nightstand. I turned it on and saw 7 texts from Riley. I scrolled down and saw Jonah had texted me. A big, cheesy smile took over my face as I opened it.

“Hey. I had an amazing time with you. If you're up for it, I'd like to see you again.”

“Oh... my... God.” I said in disbelief.

“What?” Connor asked.

“He asked to see me again.”

“Why?”

I shot him a dirty look.

“I'm just kidding. That's awesome. I'm happy for you.”

“I have to text him back.”

“Don't sound desperate to see him again. Relax and play it cool.”

“Thanks.”

I picked up my phone and wrote back:

“I had a great time too. I'd love to see you again. What did you have in mind?”

“Oh thank God. I didn't think you would text me back.”

“I'm sorry. I fell asleep.”

“No problem. I was wondering if you would go to a charity dinner with me.”

“Oh. Is it an elegant affair?”

“It is, yes.”

“I don't think I'm the girl to go with. I don't own any fancy dresses or anything,”
