It was a beautiful Saturday morning. This was something I would have been delighted to say out loud if I wasn't trapped in this place that I so much distasted even if it had a dorm hall haven with beautiful, nude-colored walls. Yesterday some third-year student named Mandy came to introduce herself and it wasn't all that bad.

I climbed on my bed to hang the paper heart wall art mother and jy made a week ago on the wall. Satisfied at how they looked perfectly placed above me, I heaved a sigh of relief and smoothened the sheets I rumpled, trying to hang the paper art up.

A pleased look was on my face because the paper art had blue, red, yellow, pink, and orange heart shapes attached to four strings that complemented my white bed and mattress covered in milk sheets.

"They look like they were made for the wall," Hazel said, giving me a close-mouthed smile. I nodded in response.

"Good morning, Do you mind showing me the bathroom?" I asked, admiring her mix of butterscotch and caramel-colored hair.

"Good morning to you too. Hold on, I need to take off my clothes then we'll go together."

She removed her pajamas and I looked away at my twin who was still drooling on the bed.

"Shall we?" She gestured to the door with a toothful grin, showcasing her beautiful dentition. They weren't all that white, but I loved how her right canine looked like that of a vampire.

I got some toothpaste on my toothbrush and followed her lead. She was blabbing about something, but my mind was far away from what she was jibbering. Hazel halted and I did the same.

"Here we are." She pointed to a black steel door. I gave her a smile of gratitude and stepped into one of the showers.

The bathroom was all white with toilets by the left, housed in brown little doors, and showers by the right with carton brown colored doors. There was a large mirror with three sinks at the other side of the bathroom.

I got startled to death when I turned after hanging my towel on a holder to see two sets of brown eyes as golden as the sun staring back at me.

"Oh my God!" I held my chest like my heart was going to fall out and that was the only way to keep it from falling. "You scared me."

She apologized. "I just don't want to bath alone today." She added. "When I do that, it feels like someone is constantly watching me and ready to slam my head on the shower to have a taste of my blood." She gulped like she was frightened.

"Uhm-" I hesitated. "It's just your mind playing games with you." She had probably seen too many movies.

She combed her fingers through her black hair and asked if she was making me uncomfortable. I did feel uncomfortable, but I didn't have a problem with a girl seeing me naked. I'd have to get used to it since I would be bathing here every day. I clarified that it was ok for her to take a shower with me.

"What's that?" She pointed at the round black scar by the right-hand side of my waist.

Flashback

I and Debby crept into the house after we returned from babysitting cousin Lila and James. Twins of my father's sister. The house was too quiet that it scared me. Well, it had always been like this.

Father hated disturbance, hated noise with a lot of passion and you did not want him to yell at you so you have to be as quiet as a mouse all the time.

"Gently," I whispered to Debby, telling her not to make the door sound too loud.

"Hephzibah!" Father called out to me, a voice as deep and scary as the dead of the night.
