"Logan would be the first to string him up to a tree if anything bad did happen"

Start from the beginning

I'm confused about the whole thing myself but I know for a fact that Logan's trying to make me turn on Reece, and I don't like it at all. I'm sure if I had a girl-friend then she'd just leave me to realise Reece is horrible myself. She wouldn't plot something behind my back.

I just can't decide if that makes Logan a good friend or someone I can't trust.

"Reece was so nice to me. There's no way he's as bad as Logan's making him out to be"

"Yeah well sometimes you just don't know people" she shrugs. "I'm sure Logan would be the first to string him up to a tree if anything bad did happen"

"I'm not too sure about that now. He'd probably laugh in my face and say 'I told you so'"

"No, he's not like that" she shakes her head. "Look, you and Logan were inseparable before this. You never went anywhere without him and you both only have each other in school so I can't really blame Logan for being a little bit upset when you're going out without Reece"

"Yeah but he'd be completely fine with it if I went out with Amelia for example. He's just angry because Reece is a guy. He's jealous!"

"And you wouldn't be if he went out with another girl? Megan, you nearly ran to his house that time Scott sent you that picture" she raises her eyebrows so I send her a little glare for catching me out.

"Well I would be seriously jealous if he went out with another girl but that's because I like him more than a friend!" I hold my hands out in exasperation before covering my mouth and taking the words right back. "Well I did, but now I'm with Reece and things are different"

"Mhm" she raises an eyebrow at me in disbelief. "Listen, Meg. I'm completely on your side here and I understand where you're coming from but you even said it yourself; you still like Logan. So what are you doing with Reece?"

"Mum, I do like Reece. You'd understand if you saw him"

"So you're attracted to him but he's not Logan?"

Exactly.

"No" I shake my head. I can't like Logan. He doesn't like me back and we're not even friends anymore. The whole reason I took a chance on Reece was because I knew there was no chance of me and Logan happening.

"Well if you're sure that Reece is what you want then go for it. But if not, I suggest you give Logan a call straight away"

I think about what she just said. If I do choose Logan, what's going to happen? He'll push me away from any hope of a relationship and will just continue to kiss me as 'just friends.

With Reece, I actually know where I stand with him. We're in a relationship and I can kiss him when I want to, and be friends with him without there being anything wrong about it.

Am I really choosing Reece over Logan?

I pull my phone out of my dressing gown pocket and see I have a missed call and a text from Reece.

Reece: hey, thanks for coming out tonight. We'll have to make plans to see each other again soon xxx

He must've sent that when I left him yesterday.

Megan: Yeah, that'll be great. I had fun yesterday xx

"Are you sure this is what you want?" Mum sighs.

"No, but I can't change Logan" I shrug. "If he wants me as a friend or something then I'm sure he'll come back. I've already said all I need to say"

She lets out another sigh, "Well if you're sure that's how you feel..."

I look at her and flash her a quick smile before frowning in confusion.

"Why are you dressed up?"

"I'm not" she answers quickly. "What? Do you think it's too much?"

I shrug, "Depends where you're going"

I look at her expectantly, waiting for an answer but she doesn't give me one.

"Come on then, where are you going? Clearly you need some fashion advice from your favourite daughter" I tease.

"You're my only daughter" she frowns in confusion.

"I should hope so" I tell her but she just gives me a strange look.

"I just have to meet up with a co-worker" she shrugs, glancing up at the clock.

"Oh I see" I smirk.

"What?" she frowns in confusion.

"You're trying to get a raise" I wink. She looks at me in shock before letting out a small chuckle.

"No, Megan. It's just nice to put in a bit of effort" she huffs.

"Well is this 'co-worker' a girl or a boy?"

"He's a man, Megan" she tells me. I raise my eyebrows in shock. Does my Mum have a date? "We just have to discuss some work"

"Well how long will you be?"

"Only a few hours. I'll text you on the way home, okay?" she smiles slightly, jumping up from the sofa and making her way out of the room.

"Whatever" I chuckle.
