A/N:

I get it. I do. We all love Vince. We all love the devil inside him. He should always be top dog. He should always reign supreme, but.....

There is always someone better. There is always going to be someone better.

Akuma/Ryu may just be that guy to Vince. Keep in mind that Vince is pushing 50 and Ryu is in his 20s.

And I hate to make threats, I really do, but if I get one more private message or comment or Snapchat message telling me that I need to lower Ryu down several notches then I might stop the book completely. Because I am tired of hearing it.

Vince isn't always going to be the King. No king reigns forever. If you can't stand the thought of that then stop reading this book. Seriously. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

(Aria's POV)

"The Yakuza is huge though. They're like the second biggest crime organization in the world." Juliet said.

"I know. He knew that to. Didn't stop him though. He traveled throughout Japan and came over here for a while before going back to Japan. He took out all the big hitters and top dogs before reaching Nakamura."

"The boss Vince met with?"

"Yeah. By then he was thirteen and we'd been apart for a while. He couldn't find me and I didn't know how to contact him. Nakamura knew my mother and told Ryu that he'd find me for him."

"I'm surprised Nakamura did that."

"You and me both. Especially since he had made it to the Yakuza's list by then."

"List?"

"Like a wanted list or a watch out for list. The thing was, if they passed Ryu in the street, they wouldn't have looked twice. Anyone he came into contact with died. All they had was a picture of him when he younger, when he was with father. They didn't have a picture of him at that time or as he aged. They named him Akuma and Myūto."

" Myūto? What is that?"

"Mute. They called him The Demon and The Mute."

"Why The Mute?"

"He rarely spoke a word to anyone. When he did, it was never more than one sentence at a time. Nakamura could've killed him when he showed up on his doorstep, but he didn't. He used me a leverage so to speak. Promise to get me back for him if he did a few things for him from time-to-time and stopped killing off the Yakuza. Ryu agreed. My father died and my mother moved us back to Japan. Nakamura had me brought to him once we got back and he was by my side from that day on until I went missing."

She nodded. "Vince filled me in on that part. Said Ryu's searching for who took you."

"He is."

"Does he still want to finish his mission?"

"On taking out the Yakuza? I think so. Nakamura doesn't seem to think so though."

"Why do you say that?"

"He treats Ryu like a son. He doesn't question him and gives him whatever he wants. He lifts him up with praise and brags about him to everyone."

"He the only one who knows who Ryu is?"

"Akuma and Myūto? Yes. Him and a few of his men are the only ones who know."

"And you of course."

"Yeah. When we reconnected, I was twelve. Neither of us had fully gone through puberty, yet we had matured a lot. He still had his...humanity switch turned off. I was the only one who brought life out of him. I was the only one who made him get close to gaining all that back. His temper cooled down, he was less...homicidal, and so on with me around."

"He was just thirteen and had been through all that? I couldn't imagine."

"Being that young worked in his favor. You look at a thirteen year old, you don't automatically picture an elite assassin."

"That's for sure. What about the rest of his family or friends?"

"No other family and he doesn't do friends. Just me."

"Just you? I feel like that would get to you sometimes. Being his only real support."

"Not really. I love him. With everything in me and I always will. He's my only support to." I said, staring down at my tea. "I know he loves me. I know he needs me. He's not the most passionate or romantic guy, but after what happened to him who would be? A lot of damage was done to him before we reconnected. Irreversible damage.
So I know he loves me to the fullest extent at which he can. He was technically diagnosed as a sociopath/psychopath with a photographic memory and an IQ of around or over 200. He truly is one person in this world that could get by without anyone. Including me."

"You're worries he could be just fine without you. You need to stress these worries to him. Tell him about them." Juliet said.

"I know and I will. Sometime."

"Listen, I can count on one hand how many people have the balls to get nose to nose with Vince and not back down no matter what. The only one besides me and my sons is Ryu. He had Vince pinned for floor. That's not an easy thing to do. My husband is a big guy. Ryu is half his size but I can tell he is all muscle. No one goes against my husband for anything these days. Ryu is though. He is doing all this for you, right? Vince said he was tracking down the people responsible for your disappearance."

"He is."

"That tells me that he loves you. He may not be able to express it in words per say or actions most of the time, but he loves you. Enough to go up against anyone who stands in his way. Like you said, you calm him down and keep his demons at bay. I think he'll always need you."

"Thank you." I smiled.

"Anytime."

"What do you think is happening over there?"

"Not sure. It depends. Does Ryu know how to use a gun or just a knife?"

"Both, but he hates guns. Says knives are personal and guns are business. Plus, you can be faster with a knife than a gun and guns jam while knives do not."

"All very valid points."

"Yep."

"Vince is a gun man. Rarely uses a knife. He did when he saved me, but then he moved on to guns. Let me ask you one other thing."

"Okay."

"It's for Vince's peace of mind more than my own really. Does Ryu carry bullets in his pockets for no reason?"
