The bell rang and she packed up her books before she made her way out of class and towards the familiar locker where he stood, shoving his books onto the metal shelves.

"Hey." She said out of the blue.

He jumped and turned around before grinning.

"Hey."

"Can I ask you a question?"

"You just did." He laughed.

She ignored his joke and went on. "Does this number look familiar to you?"

She handed him a paper with numbers scribbled in blue ink and he scanned it.

"Nope, but I can ask around."

"That'd be great, thanks Ben." She turned to leave when he caught her wrist. Immediately she retracted it from his grasp but he seemed oblivious to the action.

"What's with this number though?"

She shook her head and her lip muscles quivered in pain as she forced out a smile. "It's nothing. I'm just... I want to see if it's a joke or not."

"What's a joke?"

"Life," She barked out a short laugh. "Kidding. Anyways, I have to get to class. See you."

She waved as she scuttled away.
