Iida dropped to his knees. "NOOO!" He yelled. He now knew exactly what Midoriya had felt when he couldn't save Bakugo at the training camp. Utter defeat and despair. Nobody had had any time to react. It had all happened in a second. He'd been taken right out of his arms. Right out of his damn arms! And he couldn't do anything.
"Why?!!!" Uraraka screamed next to him, but he barely heard her.
"God damn it!" Todoroki said only a little louder than usual, but for him that was something.
"What just happened?" Kaminari asked nobody in particular, still staring at the space his classmate had been mere moments before.
The rest of the class was starting to recover from the shock and were having mixed reactions. Some looked angry and ready to fight, others looked distraught and sad. Many looked as defeated as Iida felt. But he had to pull himself together. If he lost it, the rest of the class would too. He was the class representative for goodness sake! He needed to set a good example. Slowly, he got to his feet. He turned to his friends, ready to give words of consolation, but before he could, he heard footsteps from behind him. He turned, raising his fists, but was surprised to see Bakugo running towards them with Aizawa and All Might not far behind.
"Sorry we're late." Aizawa said, coming to a halt in front of them.
"Where's that witch?!" Bakugo yelled. "I'll blow her up!"
Everyone looked at their feet, probably not wanting to admit their defeat in front of their teachers. But then Uraraka spoke up.
"They took him." She said in a small voice. "They took Deku-Kun." She covered her face as tears flooded down her cheeks.
"W-What do you mean they took him!?" Bakugo yelled. "He might be a nerd, but that damn Deku wouldn't be captured without a fight!"
"He was already injured." Iida said. He didn't think Uraraka could talk any more about it without breaking down. "They kept him in his room all day. He never even came to school. By the time we figured out it was too late." Iida hated the words that were coming out of his mouth, but they were true.
"If I had only come here sooner instead of questioning myself then maybe, young Midoriya." All Might said, putting his face in his hand. He looked in pain, like he had when Bakugo was taken, but there was something more.
"No." Aizawa said, resting a hand on All Mights arm. "I should have questioned him more. I was with him the most while he- or, she was at school. I should have noticed something."
"We shouldn't blame ourselves." Todoroki said. "The more time we waste here the farther away Midoriya will get. We need to take action."
Tears were wiped away and fists were raised instead. "I've already informed the police that something might be going on. They should be here-" but Aizawa was cut off when there were sirens and flashing lights signaling their arrival. Within a few minutes police were everywhere, asking questions and searching. The whole class was gathered up and taken to the police station without any complaints. For the rest of the night one by one each of them was questioned and then either sent home or picked up by angry and concerned parents. Throughout the whole thing he was kind of in a daze. The whole exchange had lasted maybe 5 minutes, yet so much had happened. It was like someone had pressed fast forward on his brain. Iida was one of the last ones to be questioned, and retelling the story didn't exactly help.
"So you went into his room and he was lying there?" The officer asked.
"Yes." Iida answered. "And then-" But he stopped when he heard a commotion coming from the room over. It sounded like a woman. This place has pretty thin walls. He thought. He could hear everything the woman and the other person, All Might he recognized, were saying.
"I told you! I saw him on Saturday and then he didn't answer any of my calls!"
Midoriyas mom. He realized with a start. He couldn't imagine what she was going through.
"Calm down Ms. Midoriya." All Might said. Even from there Iida could hear the sadness in his voice. "The police and pro hero's are doing all they can to track down the League and young Midoriya. We just need you to answer their questions."
"You said you'd protect him! I let him live in the dorms because I thought he was safe there after what you said before! But now he's- he's...!" She stopped and there was more sobbing. Iida couldn't take it. He got up, said sorry to the officer, and ran out of the room and came face to face with All Might.
"Oh, Iida." He said. He had a sad look on his face that described this entire ordeal. Iida moved past him and acknowledged the short green haired woman behind him. She looked at him in surprise when he bowed in front of her.
"I'm sorry!" He said, trying to make his voice sound stable as his emotions welled up again. "I was there and I couldn't do anything! I had him and couldn't protect him! This is partly my fault!" Tears started to come up in his eyes making them sting. "I should've-" but he stopped when he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"It's okay." The little woman said in what was probably her most comforting voice. "I know how hard this must be for you all, and I'm just grateful that Izuku could have such good friends that would be so worried about him." She smiled at him weakly, making Iida tear up even more. She then looked to All Might with a look that wasn't angry, just pleading. "I need you to get my boy back to me. There's no good in blaming anyone." She said, reminding him of Todorokis words. "Please. I just want him to be safe."
Hey you guys. Sorry for the short chapter. I wanted to add some kind of suspense, but I didn't want to switch my style of doing a different perspective for each chapter, so that's why I did this second part instead of a separate chapter' you'll probably see some like this in the future, but I don't plan on doing it very often.
