Fred rests his head on my lap as I frantically scribble my potions essay. He and his twin were working on something themselves that was keeping them busy and quiet. The whole situations making me nervous I mean I've never seen them sit still this long. Fred had to get McGonagall to allow him and his brother things to fidget with during exams so they'd be quiet so them voluntarily doing so now is.. concerning to say the least.

The rest of the common room can sense it too. I feel eyes shift to us every so often waiting for something to explode.

"No - that sounds like we're accusing him. Got to be careful. . . "

Various mumbles like that keep being repeated. Suddenly the memory of the bet from the summer hits me. The fools gold. They are trying to get our money back? Oh I guess that makes sense. Fair enough I guess. But I haven't the time to worry about it. I move slightly as I bite my lip gently.

"No if I word it like that I'll be wrong," I say softly as I use my wand to clear the last couple lines.

After a while George roles the parchment up and the two decide to head off to bed. Fred was using every trick to try and convince me to join but this essay was way too important.

"Come on you look exhausted," Fred says softly.

"I'll be fine," I tell him, "I have one more paragraph to go. Just head up I'll be there in no time."

"You Can write in bed-"

"You'll force me to sleep," I tell him, "besides I don't want to keep everyone else up because I'm working on something. So relax." He sighs then moves planting a soft kiss on my cheek. "Night Love."

"Night."

As they leave I bury myself in the essay.

Fred and George had been gone ten minutes or so when the portrait hole opens and Hermione climbs into the common room carrying a sheaf of parchment in one hand and a box whose contents rattled as she walks in the other. Crookshanks arches his back, purring. I move my hand to the ground and the cat moves towards me running its body along my hand.

"Hello," she says, "I've just finished!"

"So have I!" Ron says triumphantly. I try to focus on the paper by the cat purring at my feet keeps distracting me.

"Go away fur ball," I say glaring lightly. He takes the hint moving back over to his owner.

"Not going to have a very good month, are you?" she says sardonically as Crookshanks curls up in her lap.

"Ah well, at least I'm forewarned," Ron yawns.

"You seem to be drowning twice," Hermione says.

"Oh am I?" Ron says, peering down at his predictions. "I'd better change one of them to getting trampled by a rampaging hippogriff. "

"Don't you think it's a bit obvious you've made these up?" Hermione asks.

"How dare you!" Ron says in mock outrage. "We've been working like house-elves here!"

Hermione raises her eyebrows.

"It's just an expression," Ron says hastily.
