Alpha Ward continued walking away, throwing one hand up. "She'd have to say, "I do," and that requires talking, so we'll see about that one."
Sebastián and I turned around, walking back to our house. We had met outside in the square, a place where loads of his pack members met on the daily.
A little children's park was off to the side. Twenty kids played there, all smiling and laughing as they jumped from one monkey bar to the next. It was good to see some light in a dark time.
"That was truly embarrassing," I shook my head.
Sebastián kisses my temple. "I told you, Quinn, a true Alpha will always pick respect over fear. And if they don't, then they're nothing but a false leader. You'll get there, I promise. It's all about time."
I leaned against his shoulder as we walked. "How are you so good with words?"
He shrugged. "I'm just better than you," he laughed out.
"Hey!" I slapped his shoulder. "That was mean!"
He rubbed my hair with his hand, messing up my freshly brushed strands. "Oh your gunna pay for that," I said.
His eyes widened and he began running. I laughed as I ran behind him, desperate to catch him.

Hey mom, just checking in. Any news on dad? I asked. It had been a week since the attack on my pack, three and a half days since I told Seb about the vampire girl. They had found Luna Marie's sister, Paula, yesterday. She was bloody and beaten, but alive.
That gave me hope for my dad, for my life to go back to a happy normal.
Sebastián talked Alpha Ward into helping Sylva Pack rebuild and recuperate. Alpha Ward sent some Pack Warriors over, alongside Alpha Ward's Beta's son.
The Pack Beta, Ryn, was one of my newfound favorite people. He was a very opinionated person, with a loud and obnoxious mouth. But he was wise, with 300 years of age under his belt. He had seen 3 Alphas through their time of running the Fides Pack. Alpha Jack Ward, being his third. Talking to him, was like seeing the world through an antique pair of glasses, and I loved every second I got to spend with him.
Which, was a lot. Sebastián was a good Warrior. The only downside to Alpha Ward letting Sylva Pack have some of his Warriors, was that Sebastián had to go back to duty. Luckily, it was only helping their pack Gamma—Dylan Sermon— train Warriors.
Seb was more upset about having wasted so much time on paperwork more than he was about actually getting back to work.
Watching him out there, I knew he didn't mind being back at work at all. The way he moved, how graceful of a fighter he was, I knew that everything I had seen so far was only the tip of what his wolf was capable of. Seb was a lot stronger than he let on. He loved it though, he loved seeing the look of understanding as a young Warrior finally learned something new. He loved helping people grow into their full potential.
And every moment I spent staring at him, was another moment that my heart felt full. He really was the perfect match. There were some things we disagreed on, but at least that meant there was honesty.
So while Sebastián trained, I sat with Beta Ryn Graham and his mate— Jenny.
Beta Ryn was another breed of werewolf— literally. While most of the werewolves in the northern United States were of the Grey Wolf or the Red Wolf lineage, Beta Ryn was a Greenland Wolf.
I had seen him shift once, and oh was it a sight to see. His was pure white, built to blend in with snow. He was fluffier than a child's stuffed animal— which brought a snicker to me. He was no wolf to messed with though. If people even started to backtalk to either Seb or the Gamma, he would let out a growl that reminded everyone in the vacinity just how powerful he was.
