QUINN
ONCE I WAS OUTSIDE, my stomach rolled again. My wolf howled in my head, loud and yearningly.

Alpha Alex was right.

He was coming. And I had ignored all the signs. Or misinterpreted them. Maybe me and Marshall were wrong, maybe it wasn't an attack.

The way I was running was towards a large lake, back to the daycare. I needed to get as far away from where I was as I could. I wanted to leave.

My question from last night came into my head again, popping up like an unwanted ad. But like unwanted ads, it caught my attention.

Did I want to meet my mate? Was I ready? The answer to both those questions was no. I could leave and run until I couldn't smell them anymore, run until my heart ached. I was trying too, but their scent wasn't fading.

My wolf whined but she understood. If you weren't ready, you weren't ready. I stopped and turned. My nose was twitching and my ears were upward.

"Hey! WAIT!" A guy who's voice I wanted to soak in yelled behind me and I knew I was done for. Just his voice made me want to turn and crawl into his arms. If I was a human I swear he'd draw the hallelujah from my lips.

My wolf heaved out a sigh but I kept running, I had too.

In the midst of my running, however, someone stopped me. I looked up at the playful face of Alpha Alex who was smirking at me. "Quinn... don't run." I growled at him and Alpha Alex chuckled lightly.

Someone came to stand next to him and I felt my heart rate rise at an exponential rate.

He was a little taller than my human height, with strong shoulders and defined muscles. He wasn't completely ripped from head to toe but I was fine with that. He had enough muscle to make him look muscular without being too thick.

His hair was a shade of darker chestnut, reminding me of hickory bark. His eyes were the color of hot chocolate and they heated me up the same way too. He skin was light caramel and smooth. A tattoo followed his v-line, leading into a zone I wish I could explore right now. Every part of him was flawless. His jaw line wasn't very defined but I didn't need that. He was perfect anyways.

I looked back to his tattoo, my wolf howling in her mind.

Everyone around us froze. Two guys came over from behind my mate, their eyes wide with realization. But I hardly paid attention to anyone but him. Out of the corner of my eye I watched Alpha Alex walk away, but that was it.

My mate smiled, his teeth white and his smile perfect. He had one dimple on the left side of his cheek that made me melt.

I didn't even know his name and yet I was  already practically rolling onto a bed for him.

And once I shifted back the feeling would only get stronger.

We stood there on the path, twenty feet apart. Him a human and me a wolf.

I was glad I didn't try to escape this, try to run. Or should I say, didn't succeed in doing those things. I did technically attempt it, just very poorly.

He took one step forward and my heart raced faster than it ever had before. Was it supposed to do this? Was I supposed be breathing this hard?

"Even as a wolf she has me falling for her." He chuckled, looking at me in amazement. The people around us kind of laughed too, smiling as two people found a bond that formed only once in a life time.

I so wanted to shift into a human so I could have him all to myself for the rest of my life but... the problem of being in front of everyone was teasing me.
