QUINN
WE HAD MADE IT to another pack, tired and disheveled. I stumbled onto their pack house doorsteps and walked in.
Bash was in a state of nothingness. He barely talked, barely lifted his eyes. He was tired, bloody. We both were.
There was a group of girls, all younger than I was, who saw us trip into the lounge. The girls shot up from their white chairs and ran to us.
"Oh my god, are you okay?"
"Someone get Alpha Snow," One of them said and I felt stress release from my shoulders. We were going to be okay.
All I needed now was for Alpha Snow to contact Alpha Arlis. I just needed... I just needed someone to help me.
A man with ebony skin and dark black hair ran out to us. "I'm not Alpha Snow, she's not here right now. But I am the pack Beta. What happened?" He asked, his eyes looking me and Bash over for any mortal wounds. He must have been old, he sounded like he was.
Trying to say what had happened was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Explaining that members of my pack were dead, that our Alpha and Luna might be... canyons of pain were opening beneath my heart. "Vampires." I looked up at the Beta, my eyes watering. "We were attacked."
The Beta gasped, as did the people around us. "I'm not sure we have forces ready to go attack but I can gather as many as I can."
I grabbed his arm. "We need Alpha Barron. Call him."
The Beta stuttered for something to say. "I'm— was the attack that bad?"
I grabbed his shirt, tears falling down my face, no doubt leaving clean streaks from the dirt on my cheeks. "Yes. They still have hostages. I don't know how much time we have."
The Beta looked back to the group of girls. "Go get your mate and his father, Laneya." One of the girls left, trailing off to find whoever her mate was.
"She's finding the pack general. I'm mind linking Alpha Snow right now. Only she has the link to Arlis," The Beta continued.
He lead us to the door. "Until then, lead me to your pack house." We walked outside and to a car, thank god. "My name is Derrick and the Rook Pack is ready to aid and help you with anything you need."
I shot Bash a confused look and he just shrugged. I didn't want to ask why they were being so nice, I mean I wasn't complaining. Most packs didn't just jump up and leave at the sound of an attack.
"You seem confused?" Derick asked as we all piled into the van-type car.
Bash took the front seat while I sat behind him.
"I— I sort of am. Packs don't usually act as quick as you are with helping during attacks unless they have a heads up," I said boldly.
Derrick glanced at me. "Are you from Sylva?" He asked, looking at me in the reflection of the mirror. He became very frantic and scared, his eyes wide with realization.
"Yeah." Bash put his hand behind the seat and I took it, his aura making its way through my body and calming me.
Derrick took a sharp turn. He was driving much faster than what would be considered safe. I was glad. "My Alpha is there too. I tried to link her— I couldn't. When you said you were attacked I didn't think you were from Sylva."
