I was handling the steering wheel the next morning and we arrived at an apartment complex about 30 miles from my parents house.
I got out of the car and my parents and I walked up to the doorway and went inside.
The Realtor greeted us with some donuts and coffee. I refused, trying to watch my figure.
The apartment definitely had potential. It had 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and a little kitchenette area. It was in my price range and I knew with some work I could make it my own. But I was still skeptical about leaving the comfort of my parents.
"Should I get it, mom? I don't want to leave you guys?"
"Honey, you need to be on your own. You can't live with us forever. You will find someone trust me. I think you should start by putting money down for this apartment. You don't usually get a good deal like this especially for an apartment in this good condition."
"But mom-" I started.
"-Jada, you'll never be able to experience the real world on your own. You went to college right down the street from us. What about when me and papa die?"
I shuddered at the thought.
"We'll take it." I said to the Realtor.
