It was only three months after Peyton was born that Yamina left her vampire lover and ran away with Peyton to Silva, where she met Oliver.

And so Oliver and Yamina raised Peyton as their own, until she died at the age of eighteen. So young.

Quinn was only three, Pierce four.

And when Peyton was killed, it devastated Pierce. It devastated Pierce so bad he cried so much that the only way to stop him was when he was sleeping. Alpha Alex and Alpha Luna had to wipe his memory of her.

Quinn was too young too remember when she grew up.

It was dangerous for the pack to know that a vampire got onto the grounds and killed a young woman.

So the Pack had to forget too.

And so came the perfect little lie. A lie with a high price and a magic witch.

All to keep Yamina's little life perfect.

Paula hated the Wests.

Oliver closed his eyes. "Peyton died an underage, she—"

"She died a vampire. It doesn't matter what age Thea killed her, that's all that matters." Paula leaned closer to Oliver. "You don't know where Peyton is, that's fine. Where's Reston?"

Oliver hesitated. Oh, so he did know where Reston was? "I don't know,"

"You're lying," Paula snapped.

"I am. But I won't tell you the truth." He was such a fool.

Paula sighed. "I'll get it from you."

"I've already lost one child, Paula. Please don't do this. Don't try and take away my son," Oliver begged. "My family has never done anything to you!"

Paula remembered Peyton, remembered what she did. "On the contrary. My attack got me to take you without being blamed, it nearly killed off the beta line, and currently the Alpha line is dying."

"Is that what you're doing? Following in Konrad's steps and killing off the Alphas?" Oliver asked.

Paula slapped Oliver, hard. His face slammed to the side and a welt started to form on his cheek. "Not everything is about Konrad! His message was terrible and his plans were poorly thought out, honestly. But he did have one thing right, you have to start at the top to topple the bottom. I want what I deserve, and I want everyone else to get what they deserve as well. The Wests, the Hurths, the Jones, even my own bloodline! I'm going to pull a string and watch things blow. Up."

Oliver hung his head.

Paula sat on his lap and pulled his head up by his hair. "Awe, don't be sad, Oliver. When I'm Alpha I'll make sure you have a good spot to watch things crumble, a spot right under my feet as I kick my heels up on your back."

Paula stood up and kissed his forehead. "As long as Reston and Lillianna don't get in my way," she snarled.

QUINN
BRIGHT LIGHTS ARE IN my worst nightmares, apparently. I opened my eyes and saw the sun gleaming high above my head. I wasn't one to look at the clouds, or bathe in golden rays sent to me from a gas ball in outer space. The light was a rude awakening.

I put my hands in front of my eyes and groaned. Why was I outside?

"Ah, Quinn. I wish I could kill you. I bet your blood is as sweet as sugar." Her voice was so familiar. I didn't know who she was but I knew who she was. Her. The vampire I didn't see but did see the day my pack was attacked.
