Twenty-Three: such a nerd

Start from the beginning

"Long story short? Designing and building bridges and stuff like that... well not building them with my hands but with intricate formulas making sure they don't collapse... What can I say... I'm a math genius." He smiled and my mind was blown into a thousand pieces. He was an asshole, but a smart one... I didn't think in a million years he would be... you know smart. I know, I jumped to conclusions too fast and I definitely underestimated him. He smiled as his head still peeked from behind his papers, looking at my playfully.

"First the glasses, now this... didn't think you were such a nerd." I chuckled because I didn't mean it in any way to be offensive, if anything it truly amazed me but the smile on his face disappeared and his eyes turned from soft grey to thunderclouds and blizzards, his body shifting in his chair uncomfortably. "Hey relax, it's awesome what you do and the glasses suit you... I mean it." I said putting my hands up, trying to calm his temper from turning clouded.

"Bella, don't give him to many compliments, his ego is already big enough as it is. He won't be able to fit through the door if you keep piling up the nice words." Mia laughed and it made me grin in return causing Lukas to roll his eyes again and letting out a scoff.

At that we all returned to our books like nothing happened. Mia running her hands through her hair as she was stuck on a question, Lukas looking incredibly hot with his glasses and me sweating every time our eyes met even if it was just for a second.

This was the worst study environment ever because never had I experienced such a lack of focus and the culprit was sitting right in front of me. I had to change my plan. I couldn't speak because Mia would get suspicious and I couldn't touch his foot under the table to get his attention because if I did, I'm pretty sure I was going to have a stroke. I've got an idea.Taking my phone out of my bag and putting it on silent I smiled mischievous.

Me: Never ever take those glasses off!

His phone vibrated next to him on the table and he seemed irritated until he saw whose name popped up on the screen. Rapidly he looked up at the grin on my face and I can't even describe the way he looked at me next. He pushed the button on the side of his phone, putting it on silent too before letting his fingers dance on his phone, grinning at it in the process.

Thief: Well well, what is it? Lost your tongue? Why you like them?

Well yeah as soon as you put on those glasses, I lost my tongue and my willpower with it. While I looked at his message, I could feel his eyes burning on me and I have to say it felt good.

Me: Do you want your sister to give you crap for flirting with her friend?

I smiled at my phone and before I could put it down, he was already answering me, so I decided to keep my phone clutched in the palm of my hands. I knew talking wasn't an option but now we were both grinning at our phones and casually looking up at each other to see how the other would react. Not as subtle as I thought it was going to be.

Thief: friends don't flirt...

I looked at him after reading his message and I couldn't hide my disappointment but the look on his face made me doubt if he even meant one single word.

Me: Call it what you want, as long as you keep the damn glasses on

Thief: Why?

He looked up, his eyes confused and his teeth biting down on his bottom lip. Oh boy don't do that...

Me: You know why...

After reading the text his eyes glistened behind his glasses before adjusting the collar of his hoodie like it became too warm under said conditions. His tongue licked his lips, wetting them before focusing on his phone.
