Chapter Five

"What's going on with you and Lexie?" Meredith asked Arizona.

Arizona looks up from her file. "What?"

"You and my sister, what is going on? You've been hanging around with her a lot more and she's been on your service for almost a month." Meredith said.

"We're friends and she has a potential in PEDs." The blonde responds.

"It's more than that though." Meredith said. "She's happier around you. She trusts you."

Arizona shrugs. "We're friends."

"Don't lie to me Arizona." Meredith said. "Do you like her?"

The blonde sighs. "Yes, but we're friends."

"I don't believe you." Meredith said.

Arizona looks down. "Oh look, I'm being paged." she lies before quickly moving off.

Meredith rolled her eyes and went to find Derek.

Arizona instantly goes in search of Lexie.

Lexie was sitting in the cafeteria, reading a book.

"We need to talk." Arizona says, walking up to her.

"Talk?" Lexie asked, looking up from her book with her eyebrows furrowed.

Nodding her head, Arizona swallows thickly. "In private."

Lexie closed her book and got up. She followed Arizona to the oncall room. "What do you want to talk about?"

"Meredith suspects something." The blonde blurts out.

"Meredith suspects something about what?" Lexie narrowed her eyes in confusion.

Arizona takes a deep breath. "Us."

"Oh." The color drained from Lexie's face. She swallowed. "She can't know. Not yet."

"I know, I told her we're just friends and she doesn't believe me." The blonde says.

"I'll talk to her when we get home." Lexie said.

Nodding her head, Arizona takes a deep breath. "Okay."

Lexie forced a small smile and leaned in to kiss Arizona's cheek.

The blonde instantly catches her lips in a gentle kiss instead before pulling away. "We should get back to work."

Lexie nodded. "I think William is ready to be sent home."

"I was thinking the same thing." Arizona responds.

"We should go see him and tell Felicity the good news." Lexie said.

Nodding her head, Arizona smiles.

Lexie followed Arizona to William's room.

William and Felicity were in the middle of a game of snap.

"Hey, good news." Arizona says as she walks into the room.

Felicity looked up from her cards.

"William is free to go home." Arizona says with a warm smile.

"Really?" William asked.

A soft smile crossed Felicity's face. She looked at William.

"Really." Arizona responds softly.

"Thank you." Felicity said. "Looks like Auntie Thea will be watching you while you are off school."

"Why can't dad?" William asked.
