I'm sleeping right here. I laid down in the grass, my wolf huffed out. She agreed, we were not going up that hill.
Sebastián had a cheeky laugh over the line. If you want I mean I guess we can go that fast in a relationship. My wolf lifted her head up and tilted it at him, growling softly. You're fast and I'm strong, I'll pull you up. His wolf grabbed the loose skin on my neck and began pulling.
I yipped out as his teeth bit a little too hard. What the Hell, Bash!? You just bit me.
He shifted out of his wolf and I looked at the tattoo on his waist once again. The little red lilies and jasmine flowers that trailed down his v-line
"Hey, eyes up here, respect goes both ways." He pointed to his face and I rolled my eyes as he grabbed the extra skin once again, but this time with a hand.
I shut my eyes as he started dragging me up the hill. I was looking at your tattoo. Does this not hurt your palms? I asked him.
He shrugged. "Your fur is soft and you're my mate so this contact is kind of making me relax," he admitted.
He stopped and wiped his forehead, looking down at my wolf. I really wanted to drop my gaze from his face but he was right. He respected me enough not to stare at me inappropriately when I didn't want him to I should give him the same respect.
He has more tattoos than just the line of flowers. I know he does, I just don't know where yet.
"I know I know, it's an oddly placed tattoo." He grabbed my fur again and continued dragging me up the hill
So why is it there? I asked. For looks or does it mean something?
We reached the top of the hill and I let out a sigh of relief. That hill was really hard to climb.
"Oh ha ha ha, very funny, Quinn." Sebastián shifted back to his wolf, licking my cheek. And yeah, it means something.
Well... what does it mean? I asked back.
He shook his head as we trotted through the woods. A building came into view up ahead, too small for a pack house but too large to be a regular wolf's home.
His Alpha, maybe?
He dug into a burrow and pulled out clothes, handing me some dry ones and then taking some out for himself.
As we were changing, I couldn't help but notice the melancholy on his face. What was the meaning of that tattoo and why did it make him so sad?
"You can tell me," I said, smiling softly.
"It's not that I don't think I can't, it's just hard to talk about." He reached his hand out to me and I let him grab it.
We walked, hand in hand. The cabin was in view now, just as ugly from a distance as it was up close.
"I had, at one point, five siblings instead of four," he looked down at the ground. "Her name was Jazmíne." he paused to take a breath and look out at the cabin. "Jazmíne was two years older than me, she was my best friend."
I didn't want him to continue. I wasn't sure where the direction of the story was going but I knew it wasn't headed anywhere good.
"She was on her way to visit me from her mate's pack when some humans spotted her in the woods. She tried to fight them off, she tried so hard. She took one of them down but the other two—" he looked at me, his eyes watering. "She jumped on top of one them and he drug a knife from the inside of her thigh up to her side. The knife was silver and she... she passed a couple days after that. The humans didn't even care to use her wolf for warmth or food, they just killed her and left her there."
I closed my eyes and brought his hand up to my lips, kissing his knuckles. "I'm so sorry."
He kissed my forehead. "And so my tattoo..." he didn't have to finish the sentence, I knew what he meant. "They're jasmine flowers." He smiled softly. "The second to last flower is a Lilly of the Valley though, because that was her mate's birth month flower."
We came to a stop in front of the door to our cabin. Seb was such a good person. The fact that he was mine made me happier than any person on the planet. "You're so kind," I said awkwardly.
It wasn't a usual compliment, but honestly, my mom taught me better than to just compliment someone's looks. I wished everyone knew the same lesson.
He laughed and then opened the door for me. "You're something else, Vivanco."
"Oh, so we're back to Vivanco?" I giggled, shutting the door behind me with my heel.
I flipped on the light switch and took a step further into the house.
I felt my mom's mind link buzz in my head. Quinn! We found your father. Kind of.
