Whenever my parents
and I were in the same room,
I always caught myself smiling.
Sometimes it was a little twitch
in the corners of my mouth,
sometimes it stretched across my face.For once, I was actually happy.
For once, the smile that played
on lips was genuine.I was excited because I had discovered
something about myself.
Something small and precious
like an artefact.
