Chapter - 21

[Some time before the arrival of Ranjit]

Bela almost dragged Bulbul into her room and after getting inside she started unbuttoning Maahir's shirt which Bulbul was wearing and seeing that Bulbul pushed herself away from Bela and asked, "Mamma kyu kar rahi ho aisa?" Bela angrily replied, "Bulbul idhar aao aur mujhe abhi na koi behesbaazi nehi chahiye. Tabse bol rahi hu ke kapre badlo par nehi meri baat to tumne sunna chor hi diya hai." Bulbul clutched the shirt she was wearing and angrily replied, "Nehi ye mere daddy ka hai aur main nehi utaarungi ye. Aap subhe se aisa kar rahi ho mujhe ye bilkul achcha nehi lagta hai. Daddy ne kaha hai ke main in kapro mein aapse zyaada khubsurat lagti hu and that's why you're jealous. Daddy sahi kehte hai ke aap ekdam jalkukri ho." Bela knew one thing that she was behaving in a very strange way, she herself was realizing that but one part of her was not ready to accept it and that part was the wife who was brutally hurt by the love of her life but the part who was the mother was constant in fight with the wife to make her realize that whatever she was doing was not good for the only love of her life who was Bulbul. In that fight, the only one who was getting hurt was the woman whose name was Bela who could neither deny the wife nor the mother inside her and at one point of time unable to tolerate more, she broke down. Now that was the second time Bulbul saw her mother breaking down like that after the day she first met Maahir after 8 years. Bulbul was confused thinking what might have happened which made Bela cry like that and so she walked towards Bela and asked, "Kya hua mamma? Kyu ro rahi ho aise? Daddy ne kuch kaha?" Bela kept on weeping which made Bulbul more confused and she hugged Bela by the side and said, "Aapko mera daddy ke kapre pehenne se bura lag raha hai mamma? Main change kar lungi abhi please mat ro mamma. Mujhe achcha nehi lagta aur main promise karti hu ke aaj ke baad main kabhi bhi daddy ke kapre nehi pehnungi. I love you mamma!" Bulbul was about to leave to change the dress when Bela held her hand and said, "No!!" Bulbul stopped and then Bela held both her hands and said, "No!! You don't have to change! Actually..." She wiped her tears and continued, "Main tumse gussa nehi hu Bulbul, its just 8 saal tum mere paas rahi ho, you're the only thing that kept me alive after we separated. Aaj jabse tum apne daddy se mili ho na sirf usike paas rehti ho, mere paas to aati hi nehi ho, you forgot me. Aisa lagta hai jaise tumhaare daddy hi tumhaare liye sab kuch hai main to kuch hu hi nehi... isliye mujhe gussa aa gaya." Bela hugged Bulbul tight and said, "Mamma tumse bohot pyar karti hai beta aur main tumhe kisi ke bhi saath share nehi kar sakti hu, daddy ke saath bhi nehi aur tumhe pata hai na ke I don't like your daddy." Bulbul broke the hug and replied, "Par jabse daddy aaye hai na aap mere saath mean mamma waala behave kar rahi ho. Mujhe bhi to aapke papa pasand nehi hai par main iske liye aapse thore hi fight karti hu?" Bulbul pouted and Bela cupped her face and said, "Awww! I'm really very sorry golu aaj ke baad main mean mamma kabhi bhi nehi banungi. I promise! Vaise na daddy is right daddy ke kapro mein mujhse zyaada tum achchi lagti ho." Bulbul replied, "Ha mujhe pata hai." Bela hugged Bulbul and kissed on her forehead and Bulbul said, "Mamma main Canada waapas nehi jaaungi daddy ko chor kar, mujhe daddy ke paas hi rehna hai. Vo mujhe aapke papa ke jaise khaane ko lekar kabhi taunt nehi karte hai, ab mujhe bhukh lagti hai to main kya karu aur main har time elephant ke tarah thore hi khaati hu? Aur daddy na kabhi bhi Dracula ki tarah unki buraai nehi karte hai ulta main kuch bolu to vo mujhe aise bolne se manaa karte hai. Daddy kehte hai ke Canada nehi ye mera ghar hai phir agar mujhse kuch toot bhi jaaye to bhi mujhe kuch nehi bolte aur Dracula to kitna sunaate hai, mujhe bilkul bhi achcha nehi lagta hai." Bela patted on Bulbul's head and replied, "I know tumhe Canada mein rehna achcha nehi lagta hai but you're a Canadian citizen baby aur visa khatam hone ke baad hume waapas jaana hi parega, you can't stay here varna police pakar kar yaha se zabardasti Canada bhej degi." Bulbul broke the hug and replied, "Par usdin jo Pratham Uncle aakar bole ke aapko aur daddy ko 6 months ek saath rehna hi parega varna bhi police lekar chali jaayegi. To?" Bela almost forgot that for a few minutes that she and Maahir had to stay together for 6 months before official court proceedings regarding divorce and Bulbul's custody and with the thought of that made her restless. Bela held Bulbul's hand and replied, "You'll stay with me! Koi tumhe mujhse cheen kar nehi lekar ja sakta hai, tumhaare daddy bhi nehi." Bulbul replied, "Nehi vo to mujhe pata hai lekin mujhe to daddy ke saath bhi rehna hai, apne vo waale ghar mein. Mujhe mera vo waala ghar bohot pasand hai." Bela, at first thought that she would argue but then she was too tired to argue with Bulbul and she was in no mood to do that of course and so she decided to divert the topic and said, "Ok Bulbul leave everything, let's go for shopping! I'm very tired of all these drama!" For the first time, Bulbul agreed to Bela as she really wanted to spend time with her mother. They had a great time together as both of them enjoyed a lot and Bela too was feeling happy as she too could be herself. They both were all giggling and so happy when they returned but their happiness was short lived as the biggest shock of their lives was waiting for them. As they stepped inside the house, both of them found Ranjit waiting for them along with Reyhaan and seeing them both Bela and Bulbul were shocked especially Bela as she had lied to her father and was not expecting him to come all over like that to India and also she was scared with the thought how he was going to react when he would come to know about Maahir staying with them. Ranjit walked upto Bela and hugged her and Bela in a shaky voice asked, "Pap-pa... aap kab aaye?" Ranjit broke the hug and replied, "Main to abhi abhi aaya hu par mujhe to ye baat soch kar hairaani ho rahi hai ke tumhe mujhse jhut bolkar aana para. I really didn't expect that from you." Bela took a deep breath and replied, "Main jaanti hu ke maine aapse jhut bola hai lekin vo maine isliye bola hai ke aap mujhe kabhi India aane nehi dete aur main Bulbul ko bohot miss kar rahi thi." Ranjit looked at Bulbul and said, "Tum achchi tarah se jaanti ho ke main tumhe kyu India nehi aane dena chahta tha, kitni buri yaadein is sheher se judi hui hai tumhaari aur tum khud yaha kabhi nehi aana chahti thi. Par agar tum mujhe bataati ke tum Bulbul ko miss kar rahi ho to main Madhu aur Bulbul ko waapas bulwa leta, that would never have been a big deal." Bela looked at Ranjit and replied, "Papa I know you are very angry with me kyuki main aapse jhut bolkar yaha aayi aur main ye bhi jaanti hu ke aapko meri bohot fikar hai lekin main sirf Bulbul ke saath rehna chahti thi bina office aur baaki kisi aur tension ke so please... abhi is baat ko lekar main koi behes nehi karna chahti hu." Ranjit was very angry at Bela's behavior as he really didn't want her to come to India just like that and he tried to explain her and change her mind but Bela shoved interrupted him and replied, "Papa main bachchi nehi hu, main apna dhyaan rakh sakti hu aur vaise bhi main koi yaha par saari umar ke liye rehne to aayi nehi hu, shaadi khatam hote hi main chali jaaungi aur Bulbul bhi mere saath jaayegi." Bulbul, on listening to what Bela said, replied, "Main kahi nehi jaaungi, Canada to bilkul bhi nehi jaaungi aur phir aapko yaad nehi hum kahi nehi ja sakte hai varna police aapko pakar kar le jaayegi." "What???" Ranjit was surprised when Bulbul made that statement and he asked, "What is she saying? Ye police ka kya matter hai?" Before the matter could have extended and Bulbul could have replied, Madhu came to Bulbul and covered her mouth and said to Ranjit, "Iski baat par dhyaan mat dijiye, ye to hai hi moophat pata hi to hai aapko, kuch bhi bolti rehti hai." She took Bulbul away from there forcibly to another room and then released her from her grip and on getting released, Bulbul angrily asked, "Naani ye kya kiya?" Madhu replied, "Tu paagal ho gayi hai kya? Hamesha aise dangal ke mood mein kyu rehti hai? Abhi saara bhaanda photo jaata ke Maahir yaha hai aur tere naanu ko pata chala to bawal ho jaayega." Bulbul made a confused face and asked, "What is bawal?" Madhu slapped on her head and replied, "Siyappa!" Bulbul nodded her head and angrily put her hands on her waist and replied, "To main kya karu? Aapne dekha nehi aate hi apne Terminator mode par chale gaye aur khud aaye to aaye us chimpanjee ko laane ki kya zarurat thi? Kitne mazey mein thi main aur dekho saara mazaa ki kharaab kar diya mera." Madhu understood that it was useless to put sense in Bulbul and so she gave Bulbul her phone and said, "Ye le mera phone pakar aur apne papa ko phone kar aur usko bol jaldi se yaha aane ke liye." But before Bulbul could say anything, Madhu in an angry tone said, "Jitna bol rahi hu utna hi karle chupchap! Jo kuch bhi karna hai tere ma baap karenge aur tune agar aaj muh khola to mujhse bura aur koi nehi hoga. Jaldi phone kar Maahir ko." Saying Madhu left from there and Bulbul was confused at Madhu's behavior but without concentrating on that, she dialed Maahir's number.
