He wrapped his arms around me. "Of course not, Quinn, what's going on?"

I pulled myself away from him, instantly missing him and his warmth.

"I had a really bad nightmare. Again," I explained. "The first time I had a nightmare was the night before I met you, it was of a rogue. A chained rogue. And this one was the same except I knew the rogue, it was my mom."

Sebastián tilted his head. "A chained rogue? Anything else?"

A vampire with curly blonde hair and candy apple red lips. "No, it's just a chained rogue. A voice said you'd leave me. I'm just..." I let out a shaky breath. I brought him close to me again.

I shouldn't of lied to him. He was my mate, after all. Mates don't lie to each other. So why was I?

He ran his hands through my tangled and sweat-soaked hair. "I'm not going to leave you. I already know— you're my forever, Vivanco."

"You too, West." I laughed in his shoulder, nuzzling him a little tighter. My body was still streaked with fear but being in the safety of his arms made me face the fear less lonely. With him, I knew he wouldn't conquer my fear for me, he'd conquer it with me.

"C'mon, lets go get you some clothes. My sister should be your size." He held out his hand for me to take as he stood up.

I looked out of the window in the kitchen and spotted the sun setting behind a large mountain.

"How long was I asleep?" I asked.

"Long enough for me to wake up late, take a shower, go on a jog, and talk to Fizel and Alpha Ward," He answered.

"You didn't wake me?" I didn't say what was really on my mind. He left me here alone. Something on my face must have told him what my true question was, however, because he sighed softly and sat down next to me.

He put his hand on my knee, his eyes watching mine carefully. "My pack is safe, Quinn. Nobody is going to get you. Not here."

"That's what I thought about my pack." And that's true. My pack was safe, we were solid.

Sebastián put his palm on my cheek. "But you were busy that day, and there were so many things that could have gone wrong, and they did. They slipped in when your pack least expected it. Alpha Ward has upped patrol and border security." He kissed my temple. "I didn't go far enough that I couldn't see the house. Alpha Ward and Fizel came here."

I was supposed to be more assured now but I managed to feel weaker. There had to of been movement inside the house and I didn't wake up. What if it hadn't of been him? What if someone else came in? And I was asleep?

I was overreacting. I knew I was, but after such a traumatic experience it was hard not too.

The image of a pair of small white shoes was plastered into my mind. Pierce's dad's lifeless body slumping to the ground with a gross thud still echoed in my thoughts' chambers.

"Stop," Bash said, his voice as strict and as powerful as a warrior's should be. "Stop thinking about it. It won't help."

How much death had he seen? I wonder how many times the black emotion tried to seep into his skin only to be stopped by an emotionless block in his nerves.
