Why is breakfast so important? You always hear people saying that, but it's never been explained why. Well, it provides you with the energy necessary to wake up and focus in the morning. My personal favorite breakfast is smoothies because I think it's a perfect way to get a blend of delicious flavors while also having a healthy drink! You can add all sorts of proteins and seeds and not even be able to taste them. Here's a few ideas for school breakfasts:

Smoothies
The basic components of a make-your-own smoothie are as follows:
1 cup liquid
1 cup produce
1 tablespoon protein
1 tablespoon sweetener
1 seasoning (if you choose)

Some main fruits and vegetables to use are:
- Bananas
- Apples
- Strawberries
- Cherries (pitted)
- Avocado
- Blueberries

Here's a few of my favorites!

Strawberry Banana Smoothie:
1 cup Greek yogurt
1/2 cup bananas
1/2 cup strawberries
1 tablespoon flax seeds
1 tablespoon honey

Chocolate Protein Smoothie:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup spinach
1 cup bananas
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 tablespoon flax seeds

Very Berry Smoothie:
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 cup cherries
1/2 cup blueberries
1 tablespoon blackberry jam
1 tablespoon chia seeds

Trail Mix
The ingredients of a trail mix are pretty much up to you, but here's some of my ideas!

Seeds:
- Sunflower seeds
- Pumpkin seeds

Nuts:
- Peanuts
- Almonds
- Cashews

Cereals:
- Wheat Chex
- Corn Chex

Fruits:
- Banana chips
- Apple chips
- Dried cherries
- Raisins

Snacks:
- Pita chips
- Granola

Flavors and Seasonings:
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Coconut flakes

Others:
There's always the good old bowl of cereal or pancakes and waffles!
