I sighed in disbelief. She came to me, smiling and tied the tie for me, "I love you so much, Josh. I'm so happy we're closing the first chapter of life together." We headed down to answer the door for Mona's and my parents "Congrats you guys!" My dad says. "Thanks dad." I retorted proudly with a smile. "And you must be Ramona! I'm Sylvia." My mom says as she admired my girlfriend before hugging her. "Indeed I am. Nice to meet you Sylvia!" Mona says sweetly with a smile as they broke from the hug. Mona's mom, Rosemary came up to me and hugged me tightly, "I'm proud of you Josh." She says happily. "Thank you Rosemary." Rosemary let go of me. Mona's parents and mine introduced each other and swooned over me and Mona. "I'm Michael." My dad says as he gently hugs my girlfriend. He knows to be gentle with her. I haven't told him to be gentle with her. I think he just naturally knows. The six of us went outside for pre-graduation pics in front of the same tree we had prom pics done. The speech will be the last thing to do for school." Stephen assured her. "You've done wonderfully with practising in front of me, princess. Ignore everyone else. Focus on me, your parents, and mine too. We all believe in you." I assured her sweetly which made Mona relax. "Thank you dad and Josh. I really appreciate it." "No need to thank us, Mona." Stephen says sweetly to her. We headed to the school and got lined up in our placements for the ceremony to walk out to the football field. Mona led the first line since she's valedictorian. The four salutatorians led the four other lines. I can see Ramona's nervousness. She looked back to where I us and smiled, her shoulders relaxing. I flashed her the "ok" symbol at my thigh to get her to laugh which worked. She got me back and blew me a kiss. I blew her one back before the first line went. Then the second. Then my line. Then the fourth.
The speeches were long and drawn out. Mona's was cheesy just to kiss ass but also had a bit of a condescending tone. I looked over at her "friends" who were average graduates like me; they looked down and didn't look at her nor me. If they noticed. Then the high orchestra played a song. Mona is first cello. I love this woman so much. How she gets so into the music. Then choir sang some dumbass song. Then the diplomas. Mona was the one to announce the names. All 300 names. When she announced mine, she smiled brightly at me and blushed a little bit. I couldn't help but to return the smile. I think people caught on since someone whistled very loudly. Mona announced the salutatorians' names before one announced Mona's. "Our one and only valedictorian: Ramona Anastasiya Habel." Everyone applauded crazily for her. Ramona looked super uncomfortable by the attention though she smiled. "Class of 2017, you may now move your tassel to the left. And you may now toss your caps to celebrate." Mona managed to get closer to where I was at. We held hands and tossed our caps up together then kissed. People went ape shit over what we did. We got our caps then got to our parents who hugged both of us tightly. "Congratulations you two! What you two did was super cute." My mom swooned. I smiled, "Thanks mom," I audibly said to her before I whispered "I gotta go to the car and get something for Mona." My mom patted my back and stalled Mona so I could sneak out and go to the car and get a special bouquet of roses and promise rings for me and her. I went back in and found our parents and Mona. I hugged her tightly then gave Mona the bouquet of roses, "My beautiful sweet Mona, you have overcome so much in school and outside of school. You are stronger than what you know and can see. You have a bright spark inside you that is longing to explode into a bright fire. Don't try to dim the spark. You have the most beautiful and elegant soul; the most bright and shining soul I've ever seen and ever fallen in love with," I started lovingly as I smiled at her and gazed into her tear-filled blue eyes, "I'm promising my loyalty and unconditional love and respect right here, right now; forever an always." I lovingly finished with a bright smile as I put the ring on her right ring finger. I didn't even realise people started to surround us. "Joshua, I haven't been with a guy quite like you before. You're always someone I'm able to count on when I need it. You're my shoulder that I can cry on. I can rely on you and count on you for anything. Joshua, I promise you my loyalty and unconditional love, respect right here, right now." Mona choked up with a smile as she then hugged me tightly. I kissed her cheek and hugged her back tightly. Mona and I broke from the hug and smiled at one another before I pecked her on the lips. I glanced at Mona's friends who all looked kinda taken aback and stunned. Mona noticed them, "See y'all assholes never. Y'all were the shittiest friends ever. Don't be so quick to judge next time. Have fun wasting thousands of dollars for a useless piece of paper that says you're qualified for something. I'm gonna go live my best life with Josh and make the music y'all brutally made fun of me for. Go have fun being whores in college." Mona laughed as she taunted and flipped them off. God I love her even more now. Andrea, Hannah, Zoe, and Hayleigh looked distraught and a little angry by what she said though I think they know she's right by what she said. Mona's and my parents tried not to laugh their asses off. "Valedictorian of never giving a fuck is out. Bye cunts." Mona laughed. My and Mona's parents and us left. I gave her a gentle peck on the lips before closing the door and getting in the driver's seat. She was admiring the flowers and smiling as I stroked her left cheek, "You are my flower, Ramona. The most beautiful out of all the flowers on earth." Mona looked at me and smiled before gently grabbing my hand and kissing the top of my hand. "You are my sunshine to keep me going." She says lovingly. I smiled and blushed badly. "Aww someone's blushing." She jokingly pestered as I started the car. We headed home and I carried her in. We zonked out pretty quickly. We were pretty damn tired.
