3 times a charm

Surprise!

We get home with my sister and her mate still giggling, totally oblivious to the storm that is brewing in Mums eyes. We get out of the car and Mum walks herself in between Tui and Sarah putting an arm over Sarah's shoulders. Sarah looks worried but Tui just rolls her eyes

When we walk into the house, Dad is already home sitting on the sofa watching TV. He sees us and waves but quickly stands up when he sees Sarah

"And who is this?" Looking directly at Sarah

"Remember how I made a friend" I interject before Tui puts her foot in it "This is O, but her actual name is Sarah Whittle"

"Oh, okay" Dad seemed relieved "I thought maybe you were dating one of my daughters or something"

"She is" Mum says nodding her head towards Tui

"Oh" Dad frowns. Here we go again. Dad sits back on the sofa and watches TV, we think that's the end of it until Dad speaks. "Sarah Whittle, why don't you, my wife and I have a chat? Come sit with me in the living room"

"Dad!" Tui grumbles

"I just want her to know the rules and what'll happen if she crosses any boundaries"

"Why can't you be happy for me for once?!" Tui is getting irritated

Dad finally looks away from the TV and flashes his million dollar smile "I am happy for you baby girl. I just want to chat with her, nothing more" Oh God. My parents chats always end with someone in tears "Come on Sarah, we won't bite" No, but you'll still use your mouth to damage her

Sarah looks at Tui and gives her a confident nod "It's okay. I've been through hell and back. I got this. I just want your parents to know that nothing will keep me from you" Mum looks at Sarah and she looks impressed, Dad....not so much

"Your phones are on the kitchen bench" Mum informs us "They're already charged and connected" Sweet "There's a black one, Gold one and a metallic green one. I knew the colors you kids wanted. Why don't you all go and check them out while you father and I have a conversation with Sarah" Tui groans but walks to the kitchen with Jay-Jay and I following. We see the phones on the bench and I instantly grab the black phone, Jay-Jay grabs the green one and Tui grabs the gold. It feels heavy in my hands but comfortable

"Samsung galaxy S10 plus. This came out this year. Nice" Jay-Jay looks very happy. On the box is a phone number. I assume it's for my phone so I punch it in under the contact "Honeybear" I've always put my number under that name. Jay-Jay always put his under "Papabear" and Tui used "Babybear" It was always something we did since we got our first phones. I put in my siblings numbers under their bear names and send them all a message to be sure. As I'm typing in Jenny and Elisa numbers I glance at Tui and she's staring at the living room

"Sarah will be fine babe" I try to reassure her "She's been through so much in her life and yet she's still here. I'm sure she'll be okay"

"How can you be sure?" She asks "Your ex got driven away by them remember"

"I remember" It sucked that happened but most of all it hurt "But Sarah is a Werewolf, one of the strongest beings in the world. And considering Sarah's life, I'm pretty sure she's one of the toughest"

"I just....I don't want to lose her. I don't want her to think I'm not invested in being with her. She's my mate, a thing I never thought possible but the thought of her not wanting me cause Mum or Dad said or did something makes my heart ache"

"Despite what Mum and Dad say or do, Sarah isn't going to walk away from you. Whether she wants to or not, she can't and I won't let her"
