Kaeden's POV

Rafael and I stood in the hallway as Hope gathered the remainder of her stuff. My bag was packed and secured on my back, I was fidgety and anxious, the thought of going off and facing triad was eating me away on the inside but I wasn't alone, and that was a slight plus. But my nerves were getting the best of me,

"Raf.."

"Kay.."

We both spoke at the same time, paused and laughed at the moment,

"Listen Raf I just wanna say we'll bring Landon back and tonight, everything will be fine, I'm sure of it," I said to him first, with a weak smile,

"I know, Wonder Woman in there is leading you guys into battle but I just want to say, thanks," he said as his face softened,

"Thanks for what?" I asked curiously,

"Thanks for coming into my life, and changing pretty much everything," he told me,

"I'm sure with all these monster running around and people coming after your brother, your life would have changed eventually," I told him jokingly,

"No I mean it, from that morning where we met at breakfast with Josie, to saving me from Jed and the spider, the helping me becoming the alpha, everything from then to now, thank you," he told me seriously,

His coincidence and care was flowing off him and onto me like a warm blanket, and I enjoyed the feeling of it.

I decided to be bold and move closer so I could hold his hand. At first it felt like time had slowed down and the walls were disappearing, it seemed like a dream, but when his hand enclosed mine, he pulled me back to reality. I looked up at him and his eyes met mine, in them was nothing but care, kindness and warmth. I was genuinely happy, despite the battle that was to come later,

We stood there for I'm not sure how long but Hope's voice broke us from the trance

"Alright wolf boys let's go," Hope said as she closed her door,

The three of us made our way down the stairs and into the halls. We walked through the lounge area and towards the doors, and it weird feeling went across my body, like a shift or a change but I didn't know what it was, so I didn't bother to think much about it.

As we got closer to the door I heard a deep growl coming from Raf. Hope and I glanced at him to see his eyes flash from gold to their original dark brown color.

"Hey, you ok?" Hope asked him,

"Umm, My mind still won't settle down, look I'm sorry that I can't join the fight," he told us,

"Don't worry we're not going alone," I told I'm as Hope pointed down the hall,

We turned to see Josie, Kaleb and Jed walking down the hall towards us,

"My squad answered the bat signal," she finished as they arrived,

At that same moment Lizzie stepped up and stood next to her sister,

"She's coming?" They deadpanned simultaneously,

"I need all the help I can get, so please put your twin war on pause," Hope told him,

"Why's he going?" Raf asked pointing at Jed "He hates Landon,"

"I may, have told him what we were doing, and he said he's coming with," I said with a croaked smile, as Raf glared at him
