The Unexpected

"Mmm" I mumble.

"Don't be jealous" she says. "I'm not!" I quickly defend myself and shrug and eye her down. She rolls her eyes and crosses her arms as she's standing facing me. "Have you and Clarissa.."

"No" I answer right away.

She smiles and looks away. I know she's happy to know we haven't done anything sexual but it'll eventually happen. Clarissa is gorgeous. Jennifer is too but I have so much respect for Jennifer and I was patient with her. It was all worth it. Not that I'm not respectful to Clarissa. I am. I'm respectful to everyone. But I feel like it'll just happen quicker.

We finally left and I drove us to Huntington Beach. Me, Jennifer and Veronica went inside the restaurant and got seated. But guess who wanted to sit on my side of the booth? Veronica.

Once our food was ready, Jen easily carried on a conversation. Never an awkward moment with her.

"She's graduating kinder soon" Jen pouts. "I know! It's exciting yet sad because I really don't want her to leave my class. She's the joy of my day everyday when I walk into work and know she'll be here" I said. "Aww.."

"She socializes a lot but she's also a teachers pet. I usually think teachers pets are annoying but she's the cute and loving one so I don't mind at all.. I love her" I said and smiled at Veronica.

"I love you Miss Leah" She says sweetly. I smile more and looked at Jen who was shocked. "Okay you have her heart because I'm literally the only person she says I love you to. She doesn't even say it to Vanessa. I mean of course she says it to my mom but she's family!" Jennifer says.

"I love her too." I giggled and hugged her tight. She begins to laugh like a cute little girl. This doesn't feel right though. The whole breakup. Maybe if I knew who her daughter was right when she told me she has one, I might've stayed. Because I don't like kids. Veronica's the only one I like....more like love.

We spent the whole day together and ended up also having dinner together. We were both completely free so why not? I loved spending time with them both. Now me and Jen are laughing at jokes that we made. Even Veronica's laughing.

As we walked around, Veronica ran up to this active and pretty water fountain a long with a few other kids who were playing in the fountain which the water comes out of the ground.

"Mama don't go in the water just go around!" Jennifer announces. "Okay!" Veronica responds and she just stops right in front of it and watches it all leaving me and Jen behind.

We followed her but walked really slowly.

"Thanks for taking her out to lunch today" Jennifer says. "It wasn't just for her. It was for you too! One day it'll just be me and her when you're busy or something" I giggle. "Aw thank you then!"

"Mhm. I enjoyed it. Clarissa has been wondering why I've been out all day but I literally told her so I don't need her to trip." I said.

"Is she the type to want to know every detail you're doing?"

"Sometimes. It's quite annoying. I'm iffy about her but maybe I just need to get used to it because I do like her" I said. Then Jennifer remains quiet. "Did you end up telling Veronica's dad?"

"Yeah..he's coming over later" she says and shakes her head. "You don't want him to?"

"He just wants to win his way to fuck again. I'm not into dick. You know that" she says. Then we both smiled. "Maybe he gives good head since I know you love that stuff" she smiles more and looks away. "I'm kidding. I'm glad we're working this out because I still like seeing you. I'd hate not having you in my life and today was finally a friendly day." I said and gave her a side hug.

"Me too. It's good for us and lucky for Veronica. She can see you time to time instead of it being all over after she graduates kinder." Jen says

"Yeah" I said and squeezed my face in with hers and she's letting me.

Veronica turns around and sees us hugging so she runs up to us and gave both of our legs a hug. I let go of Jennifer and bent over to carry Veronica up to us. Jennifer smiles at Veronica and pushes her hair behind her ear and gave her a small peck on her lips.

"My beautiful baby.." she says. "She is beautiful" I said. Veronica smiles cutely and tilts her head.

"Your smile reminds me of Leah sometimes" Jen says. I laugh and gave her a confused look. "She just sees us too much" I tell Veronica.

"Mommy's weird" Veronica tells me. I laugh again and nod my head yes. "I agree" I said. Jen nudges my arm as she gets a bit annoyed by us both. "We're kidding" I said. "Yeah yeah whatever" she says.

This is the kind of bond I love with Veronica. This is happy. I want everything to be okay and it's turning out okay.
