Five years later...
The nights became cooler in Nottingham as the fifth winter passed by. The sun rose late and set early as the moon lingered constantly in the sky, weaving in and out of thunderous rain clouds which blocked the little light that the sun provided. It was a constant dark hellhole, and Mason continued to act up, providing a Challenge to my leadership.
"Hey, Kayleigh, Jaydan's getting older now and he can do things for himself, like walk, clean up and run around like a maniac." I said, as I sat next to Kayleigh, making her laugh. "I'm so proud of him. And you." I added.
"Warren, I think we should go looking for our old houses, back in Kirkby." Said Kayleigh bluntly. "It's getting crowded in here and I can hear Mason and James. Also, did you know Amelia is pregnant, with Mason's kid."
"First, that's what I was gonna say, about returning home. I agree, plus I need to see how bad Kirkby is; with any luck, the War might've killed the drugheads." Kayleigh chuckled and placed her head on my shoulder. "Also, I can't stand any more of Mason and James' secrets anymore."
"Then let's move from here. The others all live in Sutton and Kirkby anyway, so it should be fine." She said, reminiscing. "We'll have to go and tell them. Also, I know a good place to camp out in Kirkby, I read about it in a book, there's a police station near the old train station near Kirkby cross."
"Okay." I said, kissing her on the forehead and standing up.
I pulled Lucille from the floor and banged the concrete walls
"MEETING TIME! " I yelled. "ALL TO THE LIVING AREA NOW!"
I stood on top of the table, and saw Elijah; Ava; Kayleigh, holding Jaydan's hand, Amelia and Emma. I took my pistol out of my holster, cock it and fired a blank next to James' door. I heard to people stand up and quickly walk to the door.
"I know this is now our home. This is the first base we have had. However, Nottingham is too big for us to stay here. There are no fields nearby, so we cannot grow our own food. There are no large water sources nearby, so if we don't move, we will die."
"So we have to move out of our home for survival, seems familiar." Said Mason, challenging the authority I held over them. I jumped down from the table, and stood next to him. I stared into his eyes and felt his breath on my face. I stared him down until he let his gaze fall to the floor.
"That's right." I said. Mason looked around, and saw Jaydan.
"We have to stay until the kid is older." Said Mason.
"HE IS NOT 'THE KID'" I yelled at Mason, "He is the son of Warren James. He will grow and fight stronger than you ever can. I understand, but there is no more food around here. Or water."
"Well, I'm not moving yet." Argued Mason.
"Well, stay then!" I spat back. He could sense my anger and rage as he stepped back. I wandered through the self made halls and punched one of the doors. "And have that as a present."
I pulled on my leather coat, and glove as I wandered over to the exit.
"Come on Kayleigh." I said. "We're going home to Kirkby..."
