The sun was ready to rise on the docks, and the world seemed to go about her business. The night was slow, but it was okay, because Kayleigh was there. I wandered outside and sat on the porch swing. I lit up a cigarette, and inhaled. It burned my throat, but the emotional fixture it provided helped that.
"Warren?" Asked Kayleigh. She was wearing just a baby blue bathrobe, which complimented her eyes. "How long have you smoked, Warren? It's bad for you, you know?"
She sat at the side of me, and put her arm around me. She looked into my eyes and smiled, and said: "Love you," and kissed me on the side of my cheek. She leaned on my chest and stared out in to the ocean. It was nice. It was calm. It was tranquil. I went to stand up, but Kayleigh said "Don't go. I need you right now, Warren. I just need to snuggle with someone."
I said, "Let's go watch some TV then."
"I wanna keep looking at the sea, squishy bear." She said, as she held me tighter.
I watched, as a glowing orange orb rose over the lengthy horizon. Kayleigh had fell back to sleep, still lay on my shoulder. She sun seemed to wake her up, however, as she smiled. I saw a single small aircraft fly above. It was marked with a Russian Flag, which was very visible because the plane was flying extremely low. I knew that was it. We were in war, and there was no return.
"Warren. I'm freezing," Said Kayleigh, interrupting my train of thought. I took her in, carrying her bridal style as we laughed together. I lay her in bed and she said, "Thanks" as she covered up in the quilts.
This day marked a day that i will remember forever and a year. The day I realized my world will very sortly collapse into nothing but a warzone, the places I once performed in, destroyed completely. The war lasted two full years. They broke my home. I'm now heading back to break their soldiers world...
