I nodded, laughing at him. "Oh yeah."
"West, huh? So you're calling me by your last name?" He asked, smirking.
I took my eyes off of his abs and then grinned. "Why not? Maybe you will take my last name."
He shook his head, running his hand through his moppy hair. "You're coming to my pack because my responsibility in my pack is higher than yours. That means you take my last name."
I wasn't sure I liked his attitude. "Who says my job wasn't higher?"
"Your mom." He walked to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "So, day care, huh? Are you good with kids?"
We continued walking towards his pack. The night had fully blanketed us now, and the black sky was covered in white stars.
"I guess. Sam was always better." I was going to miss him. I didn't get a good goodbye with him or Maggie. Or my dad.
Mom? I linked.
Yes, sweet girl? She responded. She sounded tired.
"He has a thing for you," Sebastián rolled his eyes. "Although, I cant blame him."
Are you with dad yet? I looked over at Sebastián and put my hand on his chest, looking up at him. "Is someone jealous?" I wasn't really in this conversation. A part of me was. But the other half needed to know if mom found my dad yet.
No. But, there has been some good news. She perked up a little.
"Who are you talking too?" Seb asked, shivering from the cold wind.
"My mom."
Which is? I twisted a strand of my hair. "She hasn't found my dad yet."
Bash frowned. "I'm sorry," He breathed out.
You're not the only one who found their mate. Guess who. She joked.
I widened my eyes. I'm opening the link to Bash. And I did. I felt for his string, the string with the least resistance which made me smile, and pulled him in.
Come on, guess who found their mate? I didn't really care. That sounded mean, but I had other things to worry about. Dad and my mate and moving to a new pack. I'd have to go back and get my things.
But mom sounded so happy. I had to play along. If this was even slightly cheering her up with dad missing, I was going to play her guessing game all night long if I had too.
Pierce? I guessed, praying he did. I begged the moon it was him. He needed a mate to put him in his place.
No, try again. She laughed.
Even over the link, it was good to hear her laugh.
Does Sam feel a pull this early? Sebastián asked. He was probably hoping Sam did.
You both aren't very good at this. Maggie! Mom shouted. The boy you sent to find her, Lawrence, is her mate. He's from Alpha Snow's Pack.
I was genuinely happy for her. That's great!
She cut off for a second. Oh, sweet girl, I have to go. They think they have a lead on your father. She didn't even let me say goodbye before she shut her link off.
"Your mom is so sweet," Sebastián said. "I'm really sorry about your dad."
I nodded. "Me too. How much longer?" I asked.
He hummed for a spell. "Maybe... ten minutes until my house? Fifteen until Fizel's? Which, I'm sorry again, we have to stop there first. I'm in some trouble." He grimaced. "I left my post next to him, a giant no no."
