"Are you okay, Leion?" Ara mumbled slowly, concern crossing her face.
"I... I guess," I lamented as I gazed towards the blurred sunset through the window.
"...Ok, I just wanted to let you know that dinner is almost ready," she stated as she started to head towards the door again, folding her small wings.
"Yeah, I'll come soon."
After Ara left, I pondered a little. Dinner could wait, although I actually was really hungry. I decided I wanted to go to my favorite spot before the sun went away.

The crisp, evening air brushed swiftly against my skin as I flew onto the domed rooftop of the palace, which overlooked the verdant city of Aerendyl. This was the spot I always went to before the night fell.
The sky was covered in luscious hues of purple and red, the colors falling together to form a beautiful gradient.
If only it could stay that way.
Soon the sun fell away and stars dotted the sky.
I took in the sight before me. The night was tranquil; the only thing you could hear were the rushing waterfalls in the distance and the airships flying overhead. Aerendyl was built on the deep blue water, so the ravishing lights were reflecting.
As the wind rustled through my hair, my thoughts started racing; the night always allowed me to think a bit about my life.
After our parents were killed in the War of Zestari, the King—Rysdan—took my siblings and I under his guardianship; treated us like his own children. Our father grew up next to the king ever since they were small, so we had a close connection.
After that however, Lexon had changed. The once-smiling boy I used to know was now replaced with a dejected new person that I wasn't familiar with. His only motivation now was as his position as the General of Reslyn's army and to make Rysdan proud.
Nostalgia washed over me and I reminisced the days of where Lexon would teach me to fly when we were really young, and the first time I flew high up above the clouds and into the night sky with Lexon guiding me.
Lexon, Ara, and I were always close when we were little. I remembered the times of where we would always chase each other and steal cookies from the palace kitchen; play with potions that the Magi made. We always spent our days exploring Aerendyl.
However, those days were gone, and were now just faded memories in the back of our minds.
I didn't realize that a cold tear descended down my cheek causing me to snap out of my thoughts, making me aware of the lights and the cold breeze again.
The dusty night air surrounded me as I shifted my body to stand up and take in my surroundings one last time before I flew back to entrance of the castle, dreading the dinner that came.

The clock on the wall was ticking aimlessly as all the students gathered their things. It was the last period before fall break, and everyone was overly ecstatic to get out of here; including me.
