I called Carly immediately.
The phone doesn't ring for long before I hear her high southern voice on the other end.
"Hey honey. Let me just finish up with this little piggy and I'll be right with you." She said before I heard the sound of a paddle.
"You're a useless little pig aren't you. Only good for paying for my shit-"

I muted her, my heart racing at old fond memories.

I waited a couple minutes before turning the volume back on.
" hello?" I heard her ask through the phone.
"Yes, um I have a charity ball to go to on Friday. Can you help me shop?" I asked and I could practically hear her jumping up and down with glee.
"You mean you're not going to wear one of your many hideous dresses?"
"Wow, harsh but yeah."

"I'm on my way to the mall. Meet me-"
"Aren't you busy?"
"I don't have any more time to waste on this naughty little pig."

Carly and I entered the house with big bags both of us drink out of our minds.
Thankfully I'd decided to take a cab to the mall because of traffic because the moment we entered a restaurant with a bar on its happy hour we drank to our heart's content.

Carly was in 6 inch heels and she had almost broken her ankle at least on 3 different occasions.
We'd found the perfect dress while tipsy taking a break from drinking to actually do the shopping we came here for.

I hoped in the morning the dress was still perfect.

"How Small is Neal's penis be honest with me?" Carly said slurring as she dropped all the bags on the couch.
"Believe it or not but he's actually well packaged."
"Oh please. I know a small dick when it enters the room." Carly said and I laughed.
"It's not the length it's the circumference"

She choked.
"Oh no." She said and I shake it off.
"Stop. Don't laugh at my man." I said and she laughed harder.
"I know you, you don't really give a shit about him. I remember Vincent. I remember how you were with-"

"Carly please I don't wanna hear it-"
"I just, look I hate seeing you like this, when you were with Vincent you laughed and smiled like nothing else-"
"Carly please-" I said voice shaking.

"You never fully told me what happened to you guys." Carly said and I just shut down.
"We had a lot of expectations and they crashed in the end."
"That's not an explanation." She said
"You don't lose your soulmate over expectations-"

"Carly shut the fuck up okay?, you don't know shit so just back the fuck up."
"I care about you, I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO CARES ABOUT YOU MAKING IT MY MOST IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE JOB TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE HAVING A GOOD TIME." She yells in my face and we both stood there in silence after she raged out.

"I know, I know, you're all I have. I'm sorry." I said opening my arms to her. She enters them and wraps her thin arms around my neck.
"I just want you to be happy." She sobbed onto my neck.
"I know, I'm sorry."

"You're always been my brown princess."
"Why do you always ruin these." I said detaching our bodies as I laughed.
"I'm going to head in." I said and she nods.
"Okay."

I never told anyone the reason me and Vincent separated or we even had kids.
When I was pregnant I met up with Carly in California. I was only 3 months along and not showing at all so she never even considered it ever being a thing that I was going through.
I hid it thinking that it'd be a crazy surprise if I just showed up with kids one day and said hey, these are mine.

I wanted to tell her once during the pregnancy when Vincent started getting busy with work. I wanted her to come take care of me. I was 7 months pregnant then and I could barely sit up from bed.
I don't know why I didn't just call her.
I knew Carly would travel the world just to cook for me if she knew I was hungry, she's always been that kind of friend.
