Max woke up to an aching pain in his whole body. He cracked open his eyes and looked around. It was a warehouse, though it wasn't very well lit. The only light source in the room was a pitiful light bulb hanging from the ceiling. It only stayed on for a couple of seconds before flickering for about 20. It was hot, not scolding but a little too hot for him to be in Oregon. Max groaned and rubbed his face getting up. His whole body throbbed in pain. He lifted up his shirt and saw whoever gave him a blow dart to the head found it necessary to give him beating since he couldn't do anything. He looked around, it was completely empty. The stone walls were falling apart but not from decay. He walked over to it and examined it closer. People have tried getting out of this place by pounding on the walls. He walked to the big cellar doors and pounded on them, it shook violently making a painful screeching noise. But out fell a letter. Max bit his lip and opened it. It read, "Don't go for the simplest option now that's no fun. You're smarter than that I know you are Maxy son of the famous Satan hm? Let's see what you can do without your big daddy to help you. Hint, these walls aren't going down anytime soon. Also when we meet, which I know we will, knowing you don't you dare compare me to Saw, my puzzles are much better and don't cost you a limb. It actually relies on smarts unlike his.
With love, The Game Master ~" Max cringed and tossed it the side. He looked up and saw a railing attached to the wall fulling standing without a platform to walk on. But it was right next to a window. It was pretty clear to him he had to get up there somehow grab at the railing and kick open the window. But how? He had no resources to help him in this right? Max sat there looking at the situation until it dawned on him. Motherfucker! Max shakily got up and stretched his body that was already almost giving out. He put his arms to the side and lifted his hand to where they face the ground. He breathed in and put all of his firepower into his hands blasting him up. He barely got near it and fell onto the ground making his body go into searing pain. He panted clenching his fists. He got up glaring at the railing. So he tried again. He attempted to grab at the railing but the palm of his hand got skinned on a part of the railing as he tried to grab it before he fell back down this time landing on his feet. Max clenched his jaw rubbing his face and tried again. And again and again and again. He fell to the ground once more he was tired, he had been trying this for hours. His body was drenched in sweat he had taken off his shirt leaving him in his sweatpants. Each time he got so close but to no avail. Then he saw something a little note fly through the window. He sighed and opened it, it simply said: "Wouldn't your family be so so disappointed, you have enough determination don't you?" Max growled clenching his fist. He got up and using his last ounce of strength he fired up and got up just enough to him to grab it sternly. He got up and sat on the railing, snap. The railing broke sending him down. Max starting panting heavily but calculated a plan. The railing began to crack. He used a bit more of his fire, it started to burn his skin. He got up enough to put his foot on the railing and quickly he squatted down slightly and pushed his legs up letting him get just enough momentum to get to the window and let him grab it at the window seal. He pushed himself up and opened the window crawling out and falling onto the soft grass. He fell asleep there.
He woke up in a house on a bed. His back was sunburnt he grimaced and laid on his stomach. A man walked in with some sunscreen and lathered it on his back. Max looked at him and realized, oh I'm half naked. He started to panic slightly. He gripped the sheets the man noticed and smiled. The room was a calming baby blue. It had to beds pressed up against the walls with quilts covering them he was in one of them. The room didn't have much decor a drawer was the only thing that he could see.
"You're awake huh?" Max nodded groaning in pain.
"My name is Oliver. If you hear any loud noises that's Samuel, Grayson, and Kingston. Samuel probably brought another person and tied them up and tried to torture them again and know they're having an argument. Fair warning Samuel is bonkers were pretty sure he's a sociopath. But we have to take care of him because once he gets done with his whole tying someone up he's a sweetheart. But don't worry he's not the one who put you in that warehouse. We investigated the scene further and asked Sam about it. He said the Game Master is someone who is more insane than him and lives in the underworld. Do you happen to be associated with the underworld?" Max nodded. "How?"
"Well, my dad is Satan. I'm experienced with it I guess. But I can't get down there because that takes teleportation and that takes a lot of energy that I definitely do not have..." Max's brain was in a haze did he process that he shouldn't tell this to strangers? No, he did not. Sam rushed in giddy.
"Oli Oli Oli!" Oliver hummed. "I searched around a figured out that the Game Master spends his free time in North Mexico just a couple hours away from us! Did I do good Oli? Did I?" Oliver smiled and pet his head nodding.
"Are you guys known with the underground?" Oliver looked at him and nodded sighing.
"Grayson is a manipulative mess. A lot of people us him for that and people hire Sammy to brutally murder people which we stopped doing because we're trying to get both of them better."
"So like caretakers?" Sam was now curled up in Oliver's lap being pet and soothed.
"You could say that except me and King are in relationships with them..." Max furrowed his eyebrows.
"How did you find each other?" Oliver picked Samuel up and set him down on the other bed in the room.
"By chance as all do. They wanted to meet someone like us though that's the difference. They were looking for people to sell I'm pretty sure but they ended up really liking us! But they are better now Sam is expressing himself in art and theater and Gray is getting therapy. Its balanced as all things should be. Anyways, call me if you need anything I need to make dinner okay?" Max mumbled an okay and stretched before dialing back in pain. He was so used to just being healed that being in as much pain as he was in was making his life a living hell.
