'Sticks and stones may break me
But words will never hurt me'
That old saying, my friend, is such nonsense
For words are very very scary

They are bullets for the soul
Words are double-edged swords
They can cut deeper and deeper
More than any blade ever could

They are eggshells we walk on everyday
But when they break, so do we
The greatest wars of the world
Never came about naturally
In fact, they came from words

Words are what brings us together
And what tears us apart
They are glues that mend broken hearts
And the hammer that shatter mended ones

They can be the boost we need
Or the straw that makes us snap
Racism did not come naturally
In fact, it came from words

Today
Politicians use words to spread lies
Deception and empty promises
Today
Violence isn't started with actions
Today, it is started with words

Words can hurt and they can heal
They can make you smile or frown
Words can be dangerous so be artful with them
They can make the difference in life

Words can either make you or break you
They can make you smile or frown
Words can break a heart
Or mend a broken one

So please, use them carefully
Just for all you know
They can be the difference
Between life and death.
