Twenty Seven: Asha
"He hasn't called you?" Mom asks with concern, putting her bowl in the microwave.
"Yeah, not for a couple of days."
"I think he's cheating on you Asha."
"Mom! He'd never do that."
"I know Harry's cheating on you. I knew there was something off about that boy when I first met 'im."
"Mom, Harry's not cheating on me!" I say, fustratingly. Then putting my hands on my hips.
"Well why do you think he hasn't called you?"
I don't answer for a while.
"He- He's- His phone is probrably-"
"Asha. Stop the excuses! I've been living for 46 years. Long enough to know if a boy is cheating."
"Mom, I love Harry. And Harry loves me. He told me he did. And-"
"Yeah, I told my imaginary friends that we'd go bowling in Sacremento. but that didn't happen."
"I can't believe you think Harry's cheating. He never would. We've been dating for like 3 years."
"Alright, if Harry is cheating on you, don't come crying to me, alright?"
"I won't come crying to you. Because he's not cheating on me."
I walk away with folded arms out the kitchen.
"You keep on thinkin' that Asha! You keep on!" I hear Mom yell from the kitchen.
