。。。。。。。。。。。。。

I stop texting my Mom remembering that I only have one more free day off.

I better spend this time with Jay.

I grab my phone after putting 20 bucks in my jean pocket. I call Jayden and tell him to meet me near my house.

He comes in 10 minutes.

"Hi Kayley." He says, smiling at me.

"Hey hot stuff. Wanna take a walk?"

"Sure."

We start walking down Main Street where all the shops are.

"So, this is where you grew up, aye?"

"Yeah. Partially."

We keep walking down the sidewalk.

He asks if we could go inside the mini mart and get sodas.

"Yeah sure."

I walk in and quickly grab a Sierra Mist. I don't know why, but I'm just in the mood for that instead of Coke. My usual.

I go to cash register, seeing that Jay is taking long to get his soda.

Maybe he can't decide which one, it happens to me all the time.

I look at the cashier. His hair is freshly cut, his eyes are dark brown, and he's taller than me.

He could be Chris Brown if he sang.

He takes my soda, while taking glances at me. My upper and lower body.

I would tell him to stop, but I don't control his eyeballs.

"Your total is $1.06," He says, smiling at me.

My lips make a straight line as I hand him the twenty dollar bill.

"Hey uh- you're really pretty. You wanna go out Friday?" He ask giving me my eighteen dollars and ninety six cents back.

"She would, but she has plans."

I know that voice anywhere. It's Jay.

He comes with his Pepsi, and wraps his arm around me.

"Oh- My bad man. Your one lucky dude."

"Yeah. You are too. You're lucky I don't black both your eyes out. Keep your eyes on your own ass." Jay says, I refrain from laughing.

"You know what man, can you just take your soda, and your girl, and leave man? I don't got time for people like you."

"Let's leave Jay."

Jay links arms with me, then giving the cashier the finger as we walk out.

"Jay!" My eyes widen, cracking a small grin while looking at him.

"Hey, you know how it is," He says, smiling at me. "No one looks at you, no one touches you, no one talks to you."

I laugh. "Jay, how am I supposed to communicate with people?"

"I didn't mean it that way. In other words, no one looks at any part of you except your beautiful face and your tattoo, no one touches you anywhere, and no one talks trash about or to you. If they do, they're gonna have a knuckle sandwich comin' their way."

I laugh at the way he speaks and uses hand motions when he talks.

"The same for you." I say, raising my eyebrows and pointing at him.

Then I see them. It's them! The boys... I recognize them anywhere. They killed Trey.

When they see me, they point at me.

I grab Jay on the wrist. And look at the library next to me.

"Jay follow me." I say, my voice lower than usual.

"Why?"

"Just do it please."

I pull him in there and I hide behind an aisle of books.
