Jaden Briggs, a violinist, dreams to receive at least one second of attention from his longtime heartthrob and openly bisexual Kris Hamilton. Jaden and his friends take on the seemingly impossible mission to get Jaden to meet his crush, including auditioning for the school's first gay play and going to the masquerade-themed homecoming dance.

Well, I would like to officially welcome y'all to my obsession over the past few days.
This book is the Mean Girls reboot we didn't know we needed. I say it's a Mean Girls reboot because there's a Regina George: Corbyn. There's a Cady Herron: Jaden. There's an Aaron Samuels: Kris Hamilton. It's just a gay reimagining of Mean Girls and I am here for it.
So, this book is mostly set around the fact that the school is producing it's first gay school play. Corbyn, the president of the drama club, also the boyfriend of Kris, immediately believes that he will play his boyfriend's love interest, but Jaden may get in the way of that. I loved this setting of theatre as I used to act in plays and shit. Everyone is so overdramatic about the tiniest of things and I can relate tbh.
The best thing about this book, though, is the characters. They are so intricately designed and all have their own motivations.
I hope y'all give this book a shot. I'm super proud of myself that this isn't about jocks. Well... Kris plays football but whatever. I'm done defending my attraction to jocks lol.
