Inspired by that one episode from Pretty Little Liars
P.S.: I didn't finish the series, stopped at s3 somewhere so no spoilers because I'm planning to continue again someday

(DIALOGUE HEAVY)

Rated K

Erza looked at her watch for what seemed to be the hundredth time and sighed. It's been two hours and she was still sitting there by the window of the small cafe where she was supposed to meet her date. She's had about four refills of her strawberry shake and her date has still yet to show up.

Looking out the window, she guessed she could probably have one more refill before the cafe closed.

"Stood up, huh?" the barista spoke up as he poured the exquisite strawberry milkshake in her cup for the fifth time.

"Yeah," she chuckled, realising how pathetic she must've looked.

"Whoever they are, they must be pretty stupid," he grinned. "I would never stood up a gorgeous woman like you." The wink he gave her made her stomach flutter.

"I, uh, thanks," she looked away. "Well, I should probably be taking my leave."

"Wait," he stopped her. She was confused when he went back to the counter to grab a slice of a strawberry cheesecake. And she became curious when he placed it on a plate and brought it to her. "Take this cake as an apology from the man who stood you up."

"It would be more satisfying if he was the one paying--"

"This is free," he cut her in. Boy, was his smile charming.

"Oh." She blinked. "Thanks. . . I'll take it to go, please."

"You can eat here if you want to." He shrugged.

"Aren't you closing?"

"I close this place whenever I want to." When she tilted her head in confusion, he added in, "it's ownership privileges."

"Y-you're the owner of this place?" He didn't seem like an owner of the cafe at all to her.

"The apron fooled you, huh?" he laughed. "I wouldn't be here if all the other baristas didn't abandon me early," and that caused her to laugh along.

"Erza," she put her hand out.

"Jellal," he introduced back, taking her hand.

"How did you know strawberry cheesecake was my favourite?"

"After the five refills you had, it wasn't hard to guess," he chuckled.

After that, she ended up not taking her cake to go. Instead, she ate her pastry there, chatting along with the gentleman.
