Chapter 29

Liberty could almost feel her body burning in flames. His stares were both sharp and cold and she could barely move her body at the moment.

"You're awake."

Her voice fled into the thin air and her last word was even consumed by a gasp. He just caught her invading his library! She swallowed the invisible lump in her throat to find words, but she was caught off guard when he spoke again.

"So, you messed the beams. Are you that desperate to get what you want?"

Napayuko siya dahil sa pagkapahiya. She cannot deny the truth. He just caught her by his eyes.

"I... I'm sorry." Soft words swirled from her mouth.

Theo gave her a sarcastic look.

"Are you really sorry because you stole something that I own, or you are sorry because I caught you?" He gave her a challenging look. She bit her lower lip to suppress another gasp.

His voice sent chills down her spine. How can he be so cold and scary at the same time? Damn. Only Theo Montreal can make her feel this way.

"It's not what you think it is--"

"Shut up, Miss Parreño!"

So, no more baby, huh? A lightning of pain struck in the middle of her chest.

"It's none of your business."

"Of course it is! Kailangan niyang magbayad. Sisiguraduhin ko iyon!" Kumuyom ang kanyang kamao.

"You're diverting the topic, Miss Parreño. Why are you here? Aren't you suppose with your husband?" May halong sarkasmo at mapanganib ang boses nito. He's still drunk. Kitang-kita iyon sa kanyang mukha at leeg.

"He's not my husband," pagtatama niya. But she just gained a sarcastic hiss from him.

"I'm completely done with your bullshit. I just don't understand why you need to be here? What for? I don't need you anymore."

Napaawang siya't napahawak sa kanyang dibdib. Tila ilang milyong karayom ang tumusok doon.

"I'm here to talk to you. We need to talk, Montreal."

You already made your choice, Miss Parreño. And I became not part of it. Go back to your husband and leave me alone."

"Hindi ko sabi siya asawa! You knew it was just part of my mission!" Hindi niya na napigilang magtaas ng boses. She's frustrated as hell.

"Fuck that mission!" He shouted back. A batch of tears breamed from his eyes.

"Your wedding kiss was supposed to be mine! And it's not acceptable!"

"We didn't kiss. It was just--"

"You did!"
