I pushed Pierce back. "Shut up, Pierce. Stop being a fucking dick!"

Sebastián's wolf might have been a tad smaller than Pierce's, but Bash in human form was... taller and had more muscle. He was intimidating, as a warrior should be.

Pierce rolled his eyes and walked forward. "Fine. You all stay here and chat with Maggie, and I'll go do important things." Pierce was picking a fight nobody wanted to have but him. It was pointless. I understood he was mad but this... this was unneeded.

"Let's split up." Sam groaned. "Pierce and I will take the pack house, you two can go to the training grounds, yeah?" Sam. Always the helper, always the one to diffuse situations like these.

I didn't want to agree. We were safer together. "No. What if someone attacks."

Pierce laughed at me. "You can handle yourself. Let your new mate take care of you, right Quinn? That's all you need."

I didn't respond. I grabbed Seb's hand and tugged him away. When we were out of ear shot I sighed and looked behind me.

Sam and Pierce were gone.

I grabbed a pair of sweats hidden in the hole of a tree trunk and tossed them to Seb.

"Your Beta in line is..." Seb trailed off, not wanting to trash talk anyone from my pack, as he shoved the sweats on. It was the respectful thing not to do. I appreciated that. Because while he was an asshole... he was still a part of my pack. And nobody talked bad about my pack.

I stepped over a puddle of blood, not sure where the body that once held it was. "I know. But... he's..." I wasn't sure how to defend him. Or even if I should.

Pierce always was troubled.

"He's an entitled kid. It's just how he was raised. My friend Matt... his brother... was the same. But Matt was kind. Matt understood feelings. Pierce is just psychotic." I didn't want to talk about him. "Thank you, for... staying. I know you have a job."

Bash ran a hand through his curly hair stressfully. "It's no problem. Fizel is alright with it, really."

I gave him a small, fake, smile as we came into the clearing. A post stood in the middle. Tied to it, was the Luna, the Luna's sister Paula, and their father.

"Luna Marie!" I yelled.

"Quinn! Come break these." Luna Marie nodded to her chains. "You and," she looked at Bash. "You, you're from a different pack," she noted. "Come help."

We jogged over to them and grabbed the chains. My palms burned from the lotus but I didn't complain. Complaining wouldn't help.

I pulled one way and Seb pulled the other. Her chains snapped. Luna Marie fell forward, sweating profusely.

She hugged me shortly, barely a hug at all. "Have you seen Sam?" She asked, her eyes begging for good news.

"He's with Pierce headed towards the pack house." I explained.

She didn't calm down. Her fear only grew, wrapping around her lungs like vines. "There's still Vampires there, he isn't old enough to shift yet!"
