Mommy is gone
She went to the store
And said she'd be back
As fast as she can
Mommy left me alone
To watch my tv
The tv got boring
So I went to my bedroom
To play with my toys
I was picking out a cute dress
For Barbie to wear on her date
When I heard a creak
Was mommy home?
I decided to check
I walked past mommy's door
Shut tight so I couldn't get in
I walked by the bathroom
The one with the sink
That was too high to reach
I walked by the stairs
That led to the basement
Which was dark and creepy
I walked past the kitchen
Where the fridge kept my cheese
How many times had I wanted a snack?
A snack I wasn't allowed to reach
Into the living room I went
The place with my tv
And I looked out the window
To find mommy still gone
The sun had went down
And my thoughts began to swirl
What had that noise been?
I heard it again
I felt a tightening in my chest
And I knew the panic was rising
I ran to my room and cried
My breaths coming faster and faster
Was that a shadow of a woman I saw?
Had mommy lied about my closet?
Because it definitely looked
Like a monster inside
I screamed for mommy
But she didn't come
So I hid under the blankets
And hoped the monsters wouldn't see me
