Dean opened the door as soon as I knocked, as if he'd been waiting for me. He was smiling, but I could barely see his happiness behind the red spot on his cheek from where John had slapped him. I reached up and brushed my fingertips across his cheek.

"I'm sorry. You shouldn't have gotten this for me," I said. Dean simply pulled me into his arms.

"Thank you. You're such a fucking badass, Cas, and god damn it I love you. My father... He said he'd consider it, and I know that doesn't seem like much, but it's a lot. Cas, this might happen," Dean said. I felt relief wash over me as Dean let me go and pulled me into his room, closing the door behind us.

"So your dad isn't mad?" I asked. Dean kissed me quickly, his eyes bright.

"Oh no, he's absolutely furious, but that's good. It's much better to have my father's approval than his affection," he said, kissing me again. I pulled away, my brow furrowed.

"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked. Dean hesitated.

"Just... You did the right thing. So let's be happy, okay? Cas, we might get to be together," he said eventually. "We might be able to be who we are. I don't know about you, but I never thought that would happen." Dean took my hands with a smile, and I returned it.

"I thought I already was who I was before you," I told him, taking a step closer, my wings fluttering. Dean pressed his forehead to mine, chuckling.

"And I thought I was doomed to a life of misery. We all have misconceptions," Dean said. I smiled, my wings wrapping softly around Dean. Dean reached up and ran his hands through my feathers and I closed my eyes at the sensation, sliding my hand up his arm until it rested on his shoulder.

"Dean, I... I hope this works out," I whispered, my eyes still closed as Dean and I leaned into each other. "I want to be with you." Dean pulled away from me to kiss me on the forehead.

"We can convince him," he said. I opened my eyes and folded my wings back in as we stepped away from each other.

"Is your dad going to be okay with this, though?" Dean asked. I went a little cold at the question.

"I'm trying not to think about that. I'll cross that bridge when I have to. If we can convince your father, that'll be a good first step," I said. Dean nodded.

"Have you told Sam about your plan yet?" I asked.

"Not yet. But he won't mind. He might not think so, but he's the best choice for leader between the two of us. He'll be happy," Dean said, taking my hand and tracing patterns across the back of it.

"And Adam?" I ventured, watching Dean closely. Dean stiffened.

"What about Adam?" He asked gruffly.

"He has a claim to the throne, even if it's a small one. If Sam doesn't want to rule he could hand it to Adam. Would you be okay with that?" I asked. Dean let go of my hand.

"Sam won't give it up. Anyone can see that Adam isn't good enough to rule a kingdom," he said.

"That's a little harsh, Dean. Adam really looks up to you, that's what anyone can see. I know you're mad at your father for remarrying, I can't imagine how that must make you feel, but there's no need to take it out on Adam," I said.

"I'm sorry, did I ask for a lecture from you? What do you know anyway?" I blinked, my chest tightening at Dean's harsh tone.

"I'm sorry, I didn't..." Dean sighed and took my hand again.

"No, I'm sorry, Cas. You're right, I just... my mom was everything to me. To see Dad move on like that... it sucks," he said. I brushed my fingers across Dean's cheek.

"That's okay. But it isn't Adam's fault," I said. Dean brought his free hand up to wrap around mine.

"Can we please stop talking about this?" he asked. I nodded.

"What would you like to talk about instead?" I asked, bringing our intertwined hands back down to our sides. Dean met my eyes and smiled before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to my jawbone.

"Let's talk about how beautiful you are," he murmured. Chills ran down my back and my wings fluttered at the feeling of his breath on my ear.

"Dean..." I breathed. Dean pulled back, lifting his eyes to mine in a clear plead for permission. I leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to his lips.

"Yes," I breathed as I broke away. Dean leaned back in and began kissing my neck as his fingers began working at the buttons of my vest. I carded my fingers through his hair. Dean pulled away from my neck and met my eyes again.

"I love you," he said.

"I..." I leaned in, wrapping my wings around him and whispered in his ear, "I love you too." Dean shuddered and I moved down to his neck, pressing a soft kiss there, imitating what he'd done to me.

"Cas..." My wings were stretched out and trembling slightly as I continued down Dean's neck. Once I got to his collarbone, he sucked in a breath.

"Damn, you're good at this," he said. I pulled away and looked at Dean, smiling.

"Really?" Dean nodded, smiling back, before undoing the last few buttons on my vest.

"You're a natural. Now how the hell do I get this off?" The two of us chuckled and I folded my wings up, slipping my vest off. Dean pressed up against me, taking my shirt in his fingers and untucking it from my pants.

"While you're at it..." he whispered. I laughed again and grabbed the hem of my shirt and pulled it off as well. Dean took a step back and raked his eyes over my torso, making me wrap my wings around myself self-consciously. Dean stepped back to me and gently pulled my wings away from my chest.

"You're beautiful, Cas," he said, kissing me deeply. I kissed him back, a warmth filling my chest at Dean's touch. We broke apart again, panting.

"I've noticed an imbalance here," I said, glancing down at Dean's shirt. Dean grinned and led me to his bed.

"Well then why don't you do something about it?" he said, smirking.

I did.
