Chapter Twenty-Seven

" My line is only going for two days the 5th and the 6th then the evening of the 6th is the gala, then a couple of days later it'll be my wedding" I told him trying not to sound stressed

" You'll figure it out if you need any help we'll be here" He said hugging me 

We stood in the hall and waited for the residents. Slowly one by one the residents arrived, and by 9:00 am our residents were ready for us to begin rounds. 

" Alright, everyone I am Dr. Robinson this is Dr. Ropper and we are your attendings for the duration of your shift. Everything you do you must be reported to me and Dr. Ropper. Anything that you put an order form must be approved by myself or Dr. Ropper things like Ct scans, ultrasounds, medications, MRI or any ideas of any sort should be taken to us any questions?" I said 

They all nodded their heads 'No' and we proceeded to our first patient. 

" Dr. Victor present our first patient," Aaron said

" This is Ms. Johanson and this is her boyfriend, Ms. Johanson slipped and fell in the shower landing on her arm, she has been here since 5:00 am this morning and she was given 2 tablets of ibuprofen to help with her pain but she has yet to be checked by ortho," Victor explained  

" How do we treat it?" Aaron asked 

" Have an ortho consult, get an x-ray, and if her arm is fractured realign the arm and put a cast" He answered

" Ms. Johanson does all of th_"  

" She understands everything, aren't you supposed to be the nurse anyway" Her boyfriend rudely spoke 

" No I'm a physician and the question was directed to Ms.Johanson not you" I firmly spoke turning my attention back to her, and the look on her face was a look all so familiar. 

" Now Ms.Johansan does all of this make sense?" I asked again 

She shook her head yes 

" Alright Thank you Ms. Johanson we'll page ortho and have someone down to help you soon" I assured her 

The residents walked out of the room and we followed behind them. Something about the interactions between Ms. Johanson and her boyfriend seemed off.

" That guy is abusing her" I whispered to Aaron walking out the room 

" I know" He whispered back 

We finished the rest of our rounds and proceeded to do our paperwork and visit more patients that came in. I began getting into the zone of working, but before I could fully submerge myself in my work I could hear shouting coming from the nearby room. I looked around and of course, the rest of the physicians, nurses, and staff we're oblivious. I closed my charts and made my way to the room. I walked into the room and to my suspicion, he was abusing her. I walked into him yanking her broken arm while slapping her. 

" Excuse me sir!" I shouted lunging myself at him becoming a barrier between him and Ms. Johansan 

" Move out of the way you little bitch!" He shouted throwing his fist at me 

"Johnathan stop she's just the doctor" She cried 

" Shut up Nancy!" He shouted punching her 

I pushed him against the wall with his arms crossed behind his back, not giving him a chance to hurt me or Ms.Johanson. 

" Nancy I need you to go into the hall and call for whoever is out there to call security," I said sternly 

" But we're fine now...I...we're fin_" She stuttered
