The corridors of Riverdale High were bustling with their usual energy and so was the aesthetic student lounge. Unlike student lounges and common areas in most schools, the space remained clean despite the multiple vending machines and frequent student use. Currently, the core four were seated listening to yet another Veronica Lodge announcement; this specific one regarding her family's get away home.

"Fair warning," Veronica continued, looking directly at Betty as Moose entered the area following an awkward conversation with Kevin. "Our Shadow Lake chalet is rustic but it has breathtaking views of the mountains, the water."

"Oh my god." Betty spoke quietly, fully engaged in the discussion while Jughead remained uninterested, instead calmly jotting away in his black notebook. "That sounds heavenly, V." Veronica nodded in agreement. "What do you say, Jug? Can you bear it?" The teen in question finally glanced up from his writing and although his face screamed that he was losing the will to live from the idea alone, his response held much more politeness.

"As long as it's cool with your dad."

"Mr. Lodge actually suggested it." Archie cut in.

"Yeah."

"Well then cue the duelling banjos." Jughead stated, earning himself looks of surprise from both the girls and Archie. It was clear they hadn't expected him to agree so easily and he couldn't help but feel the need to explain slightly. "What? It'll also be a good chance for me to work on my novel."

"Excellent."  Veronica broadcasted. "But remember, the point of this luxury weekend is to relax and unplug."

"Luxury and weekend." The voice of Cheryl Blossom was easily recognisable as she strut into the lounge in an outfit that consisted mainly of black. "Two of my favourite words." She continued, clasping her hands together as she grinned. "So, where are we going and how extravagant a wardrobe should I pack?"

"Sorry, Cheryl." Veronica said while glancing at Archie. "It's kind of a romantic couples-only weekend." Betty couldn't help but cringe slightly at the awkwardness the answer would inflict, whereas Cheryl simply inhaled, doing her best to not appear too taken aback.

"I see. Of course..." Cheryl seethed softly through gritted teeth. "And are CJ and myself not considered a romantic couple?" She clapped back.

"Oh god..." Jughead muttered under his breath, picturing spending the time away with his brother and Cheryl in a confined space. One of the pair was more than enough for him; two was the recipe for tension and disaster.

"Last I checked," Cheryl continued. "CJ and I have endured much less drama than the four of you, therefore making us the superior romantic duo." She was tempted to imply that the group of them were incredibly incestuous whereas she and her Ghoulie had never once strayed, but thought that that was perhaps crossing a line that would return to bite her in the ass.
