Bethany's POV

"My mom is dead? I mean OUR mom is dead? When did this happen?" Cayden finally said after minutes of silence. The whole time Ryan was staring at me and I wasn't sure if he was mad at me or not. I didn't tell him about my real mom. I only tell people when they ask and normally that isn't very often.

"It happened yesterday, I just found out this morning." I closed my eyes thinking about the phone call that I had received earlier this morning. "She fell and hit her head in the same spot that was hit during her accident. It killed her instantly." I tried to brush away my tears, but they kept spilling from my eyes. Ryan came over to me and pulled me close to him. "I just wish I would have seen her more often. I hadn't seen her at all this month. I feel like that i-"

"Shh, Bethany it wasn't your fault. There was nothing you could have done to prevent this from happening." Ryan whispered soothingly in my ear.

"Sorry to interrupt, but visiting hours are over you guys have to leave." Ryan and I separated from each other leaving our fingers entwined.

"I'll be back sometime tomorrow and I will call you as soon as I find out funeral arrangements." Cayden nodded, obviously not wanting to talk about it. I leaned down and kissed the top of his head. I had this strange urge of protectiveness towards Cayden now. It started as soon as we realized that we were brother and sister.

Before Ryan and I left the room I took one last look at Cayden. He was just sitting there staring at his hands that were sitting in his lap. He looked so lost like he didn't know where he was or what was going on. He has had so many things happen to him in such a short time it made me really sad to think about it.

"Come on." Ryan whispered in my ear. "You can sleep in my bed tonight. I know you don't want to be alone." He said as soon as he shut the door. I was about to tell him that what I needed was to be alone but the more I though about it the more I realized that he was right. I don't want to be alone.

Luckily when we got back to Ryan's house there was no sign of our parents. Only a note that was sitting on the counter.

Didn't know when you were coming back so we all went out for drinks. Won't be home until late. Be good. (Mom)

I looked at Ryan and he looked at me. Then we both looked back down at the note. I watched him as he looked up the stairs and I knew that we were both thinking the same thing.

"Are you sure?" He asked me moving closer. I smiled and nodded. Ryan picked me up and I wrapped my legs around him. Once we were upstairs on his bed we didn't waste any time.

* * *

When I woke up the next morning I was wrapped up under the covers right next to Ryan.

"Good morning." He smiled. His hair was a mess. It looked like he had been standing outside during a massive windstorm. "What's so funny?"

"Your hair." Was all I could manage to say through all my laughter.

"Well if you think my hair is bad then you should check out yours." Now he was the one that was laughing like crazy and I was running my fingers through my hair trying to make it look a little better.

"Ryan! We have to leave in fifteen minutes." His mother yelled up the stairs.

"Ugh! I forgot that I had to go to my aunt's house today. We should get dressed." He quickly got out of bed not even bothering to cover himself. I blushed at the sight of him. I don't think I will ever get used to his hotness.

"I think I'll stay here." I said as I watched him put his clothes on. "I'm really sore from last night anyway. I don't want my mom to be asking any questions."

"Alright. I'll see you when I get home then." He leaned down a gave me a kiss. "I love you."

"I love you too." I replied and snuggled back into the covers and drifted off to sleep.
