I Got You

Tumakbo ako papunta sa ICU soon as we arrived at the hospital. Sakto namang palabas mula roon si Dyann.

Her tears began to flow when she saw me. Niyakap ko siya and it felt as if she was able to breathe again after holding it in for a long time. Parang ang laking ginhawa na sakaniya dahil nandito na ako. Although Trench Yñigo the bastard is still unconscious, atleast Dyann found comfort in my presence.

That's the essence of family. And sometimes, family doesn't have to be blood-related. I can atest to that.

"Tama na. Umuwi ka muna. You have to eat, take a shower and rest. Ako na muna ang bahala dito." I told her.

"Ayoko." Sagot niya nung kumalas siya sa pagkakayakap sa akin. "Mas bearable kung dalawa tayo dito."

"Just for a while, Dyann. Pahinga ka lang sandali. Anyway, I have a friend here with me. Hinatid niya ako from Pampanga. Kami na muna bahala dito." Pangungumbinsi ko.

Napatingin si Dyann kay Henry. She blinked twice and then looked at me.

"Anong tingin 'yan?" Sabi ko.

"Are you sure he's just a friend?" Tanong niya, nanliit pa ang mata.

Nagsalubong ang mga kilay ko.
"Dead sure."

"Weh? May lalaki bang ganyan ka tikas, na maghahatid sayo mula Pampanga papunta dito dahil lang friend ka niya?"

"Meron. Malisyoso ka lang." Sagot ko. "Masyado kang twisted mag-isip."

"Hoy gaga!" Kinurot niya ako sa tagiliran. "Hindi ka na grade one! Alam mo na yang mga ganyang galawan! Nagmamaang maangan ka pa."

"Tumahimik ka nga! Baka marinig ka." Bulong ko. Nasa di kalayuan lang kasi si Henry. "Isa pa, this is not the time for nonsense."

"Paano naging nonsense 'yun? Finally there's someone to replace Ringo—"

"I said enough, Dyann!" Nanahimik siya. Is this even the time to bring up Ringo?

"Umuwi kana muna at magpahinga. Ako na ang bahala dito." Sabi ko. Tumango siya at umalis na. Nilagpasan niya si Henry ng hindi man lang binabati. Which was fine to me kaysa kung anu-ano pa ang sabihin niya doon.

Nilapitan ko si Henry nung nakaalis na si Dyann. "Thank you sa paghatid. Kaya ko na 'to. Pwede mo na akong iwan."

"Woah. Pwede naman pero pwede rin namang hindi. I can file a leave, wag kang mag-alala."

Another leave? Para saan? Sa akin? I don't think it's worth it. I am not worth it.

And if it's about the deal...

"I think we have to call the deal off." Sabi ko. "Ang totoo niyan, I can only remember stuff until the distraction deal. Kung may iba pang deal na nangyari—"

"Do I look that petty to you? Na magsistay ako dahil lang may deal tayo? In this kind of situation?" He interrupted. "Seriously, Paige. Ganoon ba kaliit ang tingin mo sa akin?"

"No," I shook my head. "Of course that's not what I meant. Ayaw ko lang na makaabala pa sayo."

"I will decide for myself whether nakakaabala ka o hindi. Pero sa sitwasyong 'to gago nalang ako kung iiwan kitang mag-isa. I know I've been stupid the first time around kaya hindi mo ako magawang pagkatiwalaan, pero if you'll give me the chance, I'll prove to you that I'm not the same jerk who gave you a hard time." Aniya.

I bit my lower lip as I weighed my thoughts. Alam niya at aminado siya na naging gago siya noon— that he mistreated me even when I took care of him when he was unwell.
