coffee royal ; yang jeongin

Start from the beginning

"Yeah, that's why I have to have your coffee served hotter than hot."

Jeongin then gets straight to work, only spending half a second to wink in her direction in the most flirty way he could muster, but it ended up in a blink, causing (Y/N) to giggle.

It must've been embarrassing for the young barista, but after hearing her small laugh, he found himself smiling wider than ever.

Fingers expertly moving around the equipment, pressing buttons, hands working busily, stretching out to reach for creamers, powders and milk as though Jeongin knew much about the place like the back of his hand.

(Y/N), amazed at his behavior, chose to sit on the bar where she can stare at his hardworking frame. The way Jeongin looked so immersed in his work made her realize how his young looks can easily enchant a person with a keen eye. Even with his back profile one could tell he is good looking.

Just then he turned around, his cheeky grin from earlier forming into an attractive smirk, and (Y/N) was shocked at how a simple action made her knees go jelly and legs go wobbly. As he held her hot coffee in hand, Jeongin slid the cup in a take away insulating cup before walking out of the counter and going to the bar to personally hand her the beverage. The moment he slid the drink into her hands, he took a seat beside her and propped his left hand on his thigh, his veins popping.

(Y/N) took the first sip, the hot liquid dripping down her throat as the taste of espresso filled her senses. It tasted very good, almost perfect, but she was sure it was not as half as perfect as the amazing barista who did it.

"Caramel macchiato, I see," she giggled. "I like it."

"Does that mean you'll come over and see me more often?" Jeongin asks cheekily, propping his chin on his palm as he grinned, the apples of his cheeks rising evidently and his sparkly eyes smiling. "I mean, I study at SOPA and—"

"Wait, you study at SOPA?" (Y/N) interjected.

"Uh...yeah?" he replies, "I study Applied Music."

"No way," she was shocked, "I study there as well! But I specialize in Practical Dance."

"Oh, so you know Hyunjin?"

"Yeah, how did you know?"

"He's my friend, we both go to the same school," he smiled.

"Oh," (Y/N) sipped her drink once more as another barista handed her the coffee cake she ordered. "How come we never see each other at school?"

"You see," he was a bit hesitant to tell her, so he inched closer to her with his hand covering the side of his mouth. "I'm actually training to be an idol in JYP."

"Wow, really? That's so great."

"Thanks, but it's not as easy as it seems."

"Why? Can you like, tell me? I mean, if you have the time."

"Of course I will. But only if you tell me your name."

"Oh, yeah. I'm (Y/N)."

"Pretty name for a pretty girl," he smiled. "I'm Jeongin."

"That must've been hard on you, is it?"

"Yeah," Jeongin sipped his latte that he made for himself, "everyone's been really stressed, plus the fact that another was one excluded from our group. It really took a toll on us."

(Y/N) was not sure how to respond, so it took a few seconds before she mustered up all the correct verbiage to use, "I'm sure you guys will move forward. I mean like, hey, look on the bright side. They might come back, and you'll be OT9 on your debut." she smiled, trying to lift the atmosphere.

"By the way, why are you working on a holiday? Tomorrow's Christmas day, aren't you going somewhere? Like a staycation at another city?"

"Nah," he shook his head, "I'd be at home working my ass out on my projects."

(Y/N) giggled, "Teenage life is hard. But fun."

"Yeah, and—"

"Jeongin?" an older looking woman approached them, "May I have a word?"

Jeongin's face paled a bit, he thought was in trouble. (Y/N) thought the older woman was the manager, or a person with a high position of some sort.

"Yes Ma'am," he bowed, standing up and quickly waving (Y/N) goodbye.

"Uhm...can I talk to her for a second?" he asked shyly.

"Of course you can," there was a knowing look in the woman's eyes, almost motherly, "Just follow me in the office shortly."

Jeongin smiled and bowed, turning to (Y/N) with an apologetic look.

"I should go now, but um...can I," he was more than hesitant, "can I get your number? You know, for school reasons."

Great job, Jeongin, he thought to himself, what a smooth excuse. Now she probably thinks you're a creep.

But, to his utmost surprise, (Y/N) smiled.

"Sure," she said and held out her hand.

Jeongin was shocked, he never expected a reply of agreement so fast. So, without further ado, he pulled out his phone from the back pocket of his slacks and handed it to the girl, grinning widely.

When (Y/N) had punched in her number, she smiled, handing him back the phone.

"So," she says, "when does your shift end? I know this cool ramen place we can hang out. It gives big discounts during Christmas seasons."

"My shift ends in six."

"Oh, see you at six then?" she smiled.

"See you at six."

And, Jeongin scored himself a date.
