Toya's entire body just hurt.

It was cold and dark, and Toya had no idea where he really was. He just knew that he was a good ways from his house. Away from his family and his father.

It had been another time where he had a, disagreement with his father, but this time it had ended worse. And it wasn't just him this time, it kind of revolved around all of them this go around, and Toya couldn't help but feel a bit guilty about running off in the aftermath. However, Toya knew he couldn't stay. So here he sat on the cold ground who knows where with the light from his cigarette being the only thing that illuminated the cold fall night.

With another puff of smoke disappearing into the night, Toya pulled out his phone. He could see where Fuyumi had tried calling him a while back, she seemed to have given up after a few tries. That's normally how it seems to go. When Toya runs off Fuyumi always tries to contact him but always gives up after a few times, she's said how he always show back up at some point. He doesn't mind this, if anything he rather prefers it. His sister would be the last person he would want to talk to in moments like these.

Toya could think of one person to talk to at this moment, someone who might help him in some way. The question was if Toya really wished to bother her at the wee hours of night.

Toya set his phone down, leaning his head back to give himself some thought. His bones ached, he felt hot, his mind was buzzing. Toya seemed like he couldn't find any closure. He took a deep breath, watching the cloud of smoke and cold breath escape into the air.

Toya made up his mind and picked up his phone. He scrolled through his contacts till he found Amaryllis's name. He stared at it for a brief moment, trying to recall if he had actually ever called her.

He clicked on her name and held the phone up to his ear, listening to the phone ring, he took another breath from the cigarette as it rang.

There was a part of Toya that desperately wanted Amaryllis to answer, and there was another part that didn't. He wanted to just spill all of his life problems to her but he also didn't. She didn't deserve to know all of the terrible things, but he just wanted to tell someone. Let them know at the very least, and there weren't many other people he even trusted enough to even consider it.

While Toya had been deep thought, the phone had stopped ringing and a voice sounded through the phone.

"Hello?" Amaryllis spoke in a hushed voice, she sounded tired. Toya assumed that he probably woke her up.

It took Toya a moment to answer, "Hey," was what he managed to squeeze out.

"Something wrong?" Were Amaryllis's next words. Toya was unsure how to respond at first, and thoughts through his response.

"No, I-" he paused and ran through his mind once more, "I just wanted to hear your voice."

There was a soft laugh, "That's very cheesy," Amaryllis said. Toya could imagine the smile on her soft lips. There was a moment of silence that followed, where neither of them knew what to say.

"I could come meet you if you want?" Amaryllis suggested. This question caught Toya off guard, and his mind started to buzz again. He imagined Amaryllis sitting beside him, her mere presence making the air feel calmer around him. He liked that idea, however.

"No," he said, the word tasted a bit sour in his mouth. "You don't have to do that." He decided that he didn't want to bother her that much. Toya knew how busy Amaryllis had been the past few weeks, and how exhausted she has been. He didn't wish to deprive her of more sleep than he already was.

"Are you sure?" Amaryllis asked, "I could easily sneak out." Once again, Toya loved the idea, but he didn't want her to go through all of that trouble for him.

"Yeah, I'm sure," he said. He regretted letting the moment pass to thank her for the offer.

"I'll let you sleep then," Toya said after what appeared to be a long silence.

"Okay then," Amaryllis sounded a bit disappointed. "We could probably do something tomorrow afternoon if you want?"

Toya thought about this offer, "Yeah," he said. "That would be nice."

"I look forward to it," Amaryllis replied, she sounded cheery.

"I'll see you then," Toya said, unsure of how exactly to end the conversation.

"Well," but Amaryllis seemed to have an idea of how to end it, "bye then."

"Yeah, bye." Toya heard Amaryllis hang up and he set his phone back down. He took another breath from the cigarette, he noticed how he had let it go down during his talk with Amaryllis. He thought of how much a waste of money that was. Even so, Toya couldn't help but feel better.
