Toni's POV
"Goodnight Mommy," I hear from behind me
"Come give me a hug," i turn smiling at our 3 year old daughter
I bend down and hug her.
"Sweet Dreams Nikki,"
I kiss her cheek and she runs up the stairs. Her red curls bouncing as she goes to find Cheryl to read to her. She looks identical to Cheryl as a kid. I laugh to myself as I hear my wife giggle upstairs and turn the TV off to go upstairs. I walk in to my room and see my wife lying down reading a French book.
"Hey baby," I say lying beside her and kissing her cheek
"Hey Tones," she smiles closing her book
"Did you already put Nik to bed?" I ask
"Yep, she was too tired to read," she laughs
I laugh with her
"You know how much she looks like you babe?" I say
"Ya she definitely got blossom genes," she laughs "but she definitely has your personality,"
"Really? I thought she acted more like you," I confess
"Not at all, 1 she's not a nightmare child that everyone is scared of- I was a complete bitch 2. She copies everything you do and 3. Both of you do this cute little thing when you focus on things, you bite your lip and scrunch your eyebrows in,"
I kiss her and lay down on her chest.
"Plus she's pretty small for her age and I was always tall,"
"Wow you're hilarious Cher," I laugh
I end up falling asleep on her chest before being woken up maybe 4 hours later.
"Mommy Mommy," I hear from the side of my bed
"What's wrong sweetie,"
"I don't feel well," she whispers "and there is someone in my bedroom,"
"Ok let's not wake mom and I'll come check ok?"
"Ok," she says leaving the room
I grab my jacket because I went to sleep when it was warm and now it's colder in the large house and follow her out of the room. We go to the bathroom and I give her some medicine for her head ache and then tell her to follow me to her room. As soon as I walk in I see the silhouette of a man in the corner of her room.
"Nikki go see mom, wake her up and tell her to lock the door," I say
She runs down the hall and I pull my blade turning on the light. The dim light in her room illuminated the old serpent jacket,"
"Who the hell are you and why are you in my daughters room?" I ask
"I'm so sorry Tones, I thought this was your room," the man says turning around
I see my best friend Fangs, who left on a military mission 4 years ago to Afghanistan and went missing after an op went wrong.
"Fangs?" I say not believing my eyes
"Hey Toni sorry-" he starts before I hug him and start crying
He hugs me back.
"I thought this was your room I was trying to surprise you and red," he says "but I didn't want to scare her anymore,"
"It's ok, I'm glad your home bro," I say continuing to hug him
We stop hugging.
"So I'm assuming that she is yours and Cheryl's? I mean she looks just like Cheryl,"
"Ya, Nikki is 3 years old now, and Cher and I couldn't be happier," I reply
"You know Cheryl is great for you, she always made you smile a little more," he laughs
"Ya she still does,"
I show him a few pictures of me, Cher and Nik.
"She's beautiful Toni," he says looking at a picture of nikki from a few days ago
"Thanks, so do you want to go meet her officially?" I laugh
"Ya sure," he replies
I lead him to my room where the door is locked.
"Baby it's me," I say knocking
"Mommies in the bathroom," I hear Nikki whisper through the door
"You can unlock the door sweetie it's ok," I laugh
I hear her fumble with the handle and slowly open the door. I bend down and pick her up.
"Nikki this is my best friend Fangs,"
"He's the scarier guy who came through my window," she whispers
"I know sweetie he thought that was my room,"
"Hi Fangs," She says shyly
"Hi Nikki," he says giving her a high five "sorry for scaring you kiddo,"
"It's ok," she laughs
"Toni what's going- Fangs?" Cheryl says shocked
"Hey Red," he says hugging her
"So nice to see you," She says stopping the hug
"You too, and I was excited to meet Nikki," he says
"Oh Nik, was Fangs the scary man in your bedroom?" She asks Nikki
"Ya," she laughs
"Fangs why are you climbing through bedroom windows at 2 am?" Cheryl asks
"I thought it was your room and I wanted to surprise you?"
We laugh
"Wait do you know my uncle Sweetpea?" Nikki asks
"Yes I do, Sweetpea and I are super close," fangs replies
We talk for awhile before I remember I have to put Nik back to bed,
"Nikki why don't you head back to bed," I ask
"Ok Mommy,"
"Love you Nikole," Cheryl says kissing her cheek
"Love you Mommy," She smiles
I put her down and she walks to her room- waving at us before closing her door.
"If you want to stay the night and then have breakfast with us you're more than welcome to," I say
"Actually that would be great," He nods
He goes to the guest bedroom and Cher and I go back to bed.
"Cher, I thought I would never see him again," I say crying
"I know babe, I know,"
I fall asleep... and have the best sleep ever in my girls arms.
