"Just go." He whispered to himself.

Ignoring the chill that ran through his body and up his spine, Colter shot across the narrow road, sliding to his knees as he came to the body of the teen girl.

Lifting his shaking hands to the neck of the person, he rethought that, moving to grasp her arm and gently rolled her onto her back. Colter's stomach churned painfully as he instantly took in her appearance.

Her brunette hair was slightly knotted and matted near her hairline where dark red blood had collected. Few scratches accompanied her right cheek where small blood droplets were collecting and the corner of both her top and bottom lip were busted.

"Talia," he whispered, pushing his palm to her jaw in hopes of gaining any type of response.

"Talia," he croaked again. This time after no response, he looked to the rather dark alleyway where Talia had been ejected from. He could barely make out anything aside from a few metal garbage bins against the wall nearest to him, however further into the alley was shielded with aphotic shadows.

"I don't understand..." The sentence left his tongue before he could stop it, but what happened even quicker was Talia's eyes flying open as she pushed Colter's large hands away in fear.

"Colt?" She seemed to be near tears as he looked at her in complete empathy.

"Colter you have to go!" Her voice was low, but structured. She pulled herself to her knees easier than he would've thought for someone throw so roughly and pushed rather harshly against his shoulders.

"What?" Everything was moving too fast for him to comprehend. Before she could push him any further away, he laced their fingers despite her efforts to stop him.

"Go before he comes back, go!" Her voice reverberate with an essence of panic that Colter hadn't heard from her in a while. Her eyes further her fear as sh continued looking back to the gaping mouth if the alley. She studied it quickly once more before turning back to the wide eyed boy in front of her.

"He's going to come back—"

"Who's he?" He questioned, asking the first question his brain threw at him.

Ignoring him completely, Talia made it to her feet, wobbly at first but steadying herself by Colter's arms. Removing her heels and throwing them to the side, watching as they disappeared in the snow, she used their intertwined hands to drag Colter a few feet. She didn't understand why he showed such reluctance as he made her pull hard before he budged an inch.

Before long she had pulled him around a corner where they were now hidden by another charcoal storefront.

"I don't know how you found me..." She shook her head from side to side in astonishment before she continued, "but you have to go." She squeezed his hand tightly to hopefully convey the seriousness of the situation.
