It'd been exactly a week since Desiree had taken her life in front of the whole school, the herd of bewildered teachers not able to make it there in time. Mrs. Mills was the first in the room, catching Desiree's sliding, lifeless body from the chair as Mr. Hacker held his phone to this ear, his sweating hand nearly dropping it as the female voice of a 911 operator appeared down the line.

Like jumping into a pool of ice water, everyone was shocked as the screen flooded black, no doubt one of the teachers throwing the off switch on the high tech camera.

Three days after the police came through, grabbed the video footage (including the large camera), questioned a few kids and had forensics clean up the scene, the whole student body was told to return to school. To resume like the incident last week hadn't occurred.

Who could ever forget what happened?

No one could easily push Desiree aside as if she was a nobody. So, collecting against the wall by the newly remodeled gym, sat a memorial for the 'kindness of the school' also known as Desiree Carter.

The person who could simply not go a minute without her best friend was Jennifer Garrison. She sat lazily, occupying a library chair, her face wiped raw from the amount of tissues used and a high percentage of makeup missing.

She didn't feel the need to gussy up today or any other day for that matter— her best friend was gone. She had killed herself on live feed, something Jennifer knew was making mourning ten times harder. Maybe if she'd only heard what happened and not witnessed it, she could've at least made herself somewhat presentable.

Scooting his chair closer to Jennifer, Colter began shushing her lightly. Her deep and heavy breathing causing a few students and even the librarian to look towards them. He couldn't care less who was looking, but after Jennifer's outburst to the whole cafeteria about staring at her yesterday at lunch, Colter tried keeping her crying to a minimum.

"She's gone, Colt." Another stream of tears fell from the blonde's eyes as she turned to look at her boyfriend. Laying a kiss to her temple, Colter sighed in relief when Adam's body slugged into the chair beside him. They needed a distraction.

"This is a disaster" Adam huffed, shaking a hand through his mangled hair. He hadn't been right for a little more than a week now, his clothes always being wrinkled and his hair being messy— disturbing up the precious sex appeal he usually kept in top shape to appease the girls in his grade.

"Tell me about it," Colter muttered towards Adam's bowed head, referring to his sobbing girlfriend.

Asking for another tissue from the librarian, Jennifer used her wrist as a current aid, wiping her nose as her eyes shut tight in remorse.

What had gone wrong?

Her best friend committed suicide in the middle of nowhere. Sure, the whole group had committed a crime the week before and then Talia magically appeared, so what was the problem? Everyone aside from Adam seemed pulled together, Desiree had seemed int he same boat as Jennifer in keeping herself together?
